A hawaiin party...
I did this for my daughter's last party. We bought enough material for each girl to have a saronge. Cut pineapples, and made fruit bowls. And I found this wonderful lady to come teach some of the girls hawaiin dances. As for little door prizes, we gave lil candy gifts.
You'll have fun... just be creative!! She'll love all the thought you put into it.

Mall picture scavenger hunt: Have the kids split into small groups (With an adult leader if you don't feel comfortable letting them go around the mall without one), and give them a list of things that would commonly be found in the mall, and have a scavenger hunt, except instead of collecting items, they'd be taking pictures. Give them an hour or so to find as many items as they can, then meet back in the food court, the winning group should get a small prize. After the scavenger hunt, having pizza, cake, and presents in the food court is a good idea. ---------------------------------- If it's an all girl party: You could take the girls to a salon(some do planned parties) and have their hair and nails done (just curled or straightened not cut or dyed or anything, nails just painted) I knew a women who had her 8 year old daughter's bday party like that, all the girls had a great time. 1-3 closer friends could sleep over after, or everyone could if your feeling brave. lol --------------------------------------... A party at a roller skating rink is always a good idea, especially for a co-ed party. Most do planned parties, and are relatively inexpensive. Same with the a few closer friends could spend the night afterwords. --------------------------------------... If she'd like to have a party with just a few close friends, you could get a room at a nicer hotel for a night, and let them have a slumber party there. Most have a heated pool, they could go swimming, play games, do make overs, and watch movies.

Try a bowling ally my daughter loved her bowling party and it will be okay for boys to come because it was a public place so there will no awkwardness that can happen from 12 yr olds

Try a roller skating rink or an ice rink. They have birthday parties all the time. My sister's and I always had parties there when we were younger and we loved it....and its not outrageously expensive either. Good Luck!

Maybe a local restaurant like a pizza place would be good. We did one of my daughters' parties there.

How about swimming at the Y? They have party rooms that you can book, along with pizza, cake, etc. .

Something fun... for example, if she likes bowling invite a few of her friends, or a sleepover is always fun, but don,y embarrass her either.

If she is girly..a spa party. You can do this at home, a beauty school, or a real spa. It all depends on how much you want to spend.
