You wait until your intended target is alseep in their rack, throw a blanket over them and have someone hold it down tight so that the person under the blanket cannot move and then everyone else beats the ever-living crap out of them.
It's a cowardly way of doing business. I had it done to me once. Covered my face so that I couldn't see who it was. No witness, no punishment.

Was popularized in the movie full metal jacket and then semi revisited in a few good men. It's a hollywood exaggeration. i've been in the corps for 19 yrs and have heard only rumors of this and have never actually witnessed anything like this...btw...striking a fellow recruit is grounds for a dishonorable discharge...why take the chance? the drill instructors weed out the weak ones and then send them to PCP...affectionately known as the pork chop platoon...This 'blanket party' may have been a part of the military of old but the present day military this is much less likely to be occurring. Anyone under my command who disciplines a fellow Marine in this way would have to answer to me.

Like in Full Metal Jacket..
When your group or platoon is pissed at you because you repeatably fail and make your group get all he punishment.. They plan is horrible thing at you..
It only works or it works best if your on the top bunk, they pull the blanket down on you so you can't really get up and your stuck in your bunk.. Like each man grabs a blanket on the side and pull it down (if he is on the top bunk).. Then they just beat you up with sock covered soap bars or just beat you up.. It's just a message saying don't **** up or you'll get it worse next time..
But it's illegal to assault a fellow team mate, it's an dishonorable discharge like the guy above me said..
(opps I wrote 'honorable' discharge hehe, I guess spell checkers don't correct stupidity.. lol)

Blanket parties were not popularized by the movie Full Metal Jacket.
They were a fact of life in the military long before that film came out. Mainly at basic training. Anyone who says otherwise is ignorant and doesn't know what they don't know.
They likely no longer exist or are tolerated.

Watch Full Metal Jacket for an example.
It is when a group straps someone to their bed (usually in Boot Camp) with their blanket, then beats them.

A person, or a group of people throw a blanket over you, and beat the stuffing out of you.

In the military, when some of your fellow soldiers are ticked at you, and a group of them come in the night, throw a blanket over you, and beat the heck out of you. You won't know who did it, though you might suspect! And you can't prove anything.
