I'm sared that my sweet happy cat will be mean or grumpy after being boarded for 13 days. Has anyone had this happen?

I had my cats boarded once for 17 days while I went away on vacation. Because I spoil them and shower them with love and attention constantly, they became ill after spending all that time in a cage with minimal human affection. They were fine and back to normal a little while after I took them home, but I had a hard time dealing with my guilt for having boarded them.

I have never boarded my cats but I totally understand why they would be mean and grumpy. You left them alone for 13 days and they are emotionally traumatized. It's not like they understand you just went on a little vacation so as far as they are concerned their mommy abandoned them. They will get over it as long as you give them lots of love and attention.

It is not uncommon for cats to hold a grudge against you for awhile after you have been away. After all, your cat loves you, loves his home and doesn't understand what has just happened over the past two weeks.
Give him lots of love and attention, and also have paitence. He may resist your advances at first but given time he'll come around.
