After many years in the Hairdressing buisiness I can tell you that 99% of dissatisfied customers are the result of lack of communication between Client and operator, Women in particular are not realistic
, 60 yr old women want to look like a teenager, grandmothers bring pictures of their grand daughter and ask to have the same hair style.
A women who goe,s into a Barber shop with her husband is always a disaster

The same thing happened to my friend. She went to a salon, told and showed the hair dresser with her fingers that she wants about an inch of a trim; she made sure to illustrate this visually because the hair dresser spoke bad English, and she wanted to make sure she'll understand her. Well, my friend was sitting reading a magazine as the lady was trimming her hair and all of a sudden she saw with her peripheral vision big chunks of her hair falling to the ground. She looked up in the mirror and saw that her hair, which was initially to the middle of her back was then barely an inch below her shoulders. She was furious with the hairdresser, and never went to her again (obviously). She was very upset because it took her over a year to grow her hair the length she wanted to. I don't know why some hair dressers get scissor happy - I think that maybe they messed up the haircut and made it uneven, and by the time they manage to even it out, most of the hair is cut off; they should have an eye check up or their license revoked; it's not right.

okay, well i always use to get my haircut at the hairdressers. Well, I was about 12 years old, and I told my mom I needed my haircut short {it was summertime and it was hott} my hair was to the middle of my back and it had a really pretty wave to it. She insisted on cutting it herself, and I was young and said yes. Big mistake. CUT IT RIGHT BELOW MY EARLOBES! I wanted it to my shoulders. & if that wasn't bad enough, she cut it unevenly. I didn't go to school for 2 weeks {just enough for it to grow out so i could put it in a pony tail} & i had big ears too so that didn't help much. My mom told the school I had a serious ear infection {because i've always had problems with my ears, so it was believable}

then when i was 13, my dad was dying my mom's hair & he asked me if I wanted my very first highlights. It was a shade lighter than my actual color. He put in the hair dye, and instead of doing streaks, he dyed my entire head. But then, we washed it out and it was Maroon! someone switched the dyes! Me and my mom went around with purple hair for a few weeks until we could redye it!

yea, so those are my hair tragedies. All in all, I just don't let my parents touch my hair anymore

I had this happen to me a few times. But the fact is, you probably needed it cut off, it was most likely dead and split and stragley. Does it not look a lot healthier? Just remember, it's only hair, and it will grow back. Find 1 hairstylist you like and stick with that person so there will be no more mis comunication.

yeah when i was 15 i was sick of having a bob cut so asked for my hair to be short at the back so i could spike it up and a longer side bits.
i even showed the lass a pic or how i wanted it cut.
for some reason she made my hair look like david beckhams when he had curtains.

it made me cry when i saw it.
i wouldnt pay until the woman who owned the salon restyled it and then i only payed £5 and got a free set of highlites.
i have never had short hair again.

I was on a Stag day in Weston-Super-Mare when we happened upon a couple of young birds one of who claimed to be a hairdresser. I (recklessly) invited her to give me a hair cut right there so she produced a pair of scissors and started snipping away. After about half an hour my mates were falling about laughing and i kinda knew I was going to have to go to a barbers and have the lot shaved, which i did.

Years ago, I split from my ex, who had adored my long hair Which was down to my bum - I could sit on it, so I decided to get it all cut off (as you do) :-) so I sat on the bus, and the first hairdresser sign I saw, I got off and headed straight in. I sat in the chair and the lady asked how I wanted it done, so I told her the story and said I wanted 'rid of it all' and boy!!! - did she take that litterally or what!!??!!

She went mental on my locks!! She was pulling it up high so I could see it in the mirror, and with a glazed look in her eye was saying 'get it all off your head, all of it' and snipping maddly!!! She got so crazed that she cut her finger with the scisors, and I got concerned (she was bleeding on my hair) and she said, 'it's just the passion - it's how I work and it helps me.

I left there with about 1inch of short stubble where my crowning glory once was, felt naked and wierd, but as all my mates told me (whilst sniggering) it WILL grow back :-( Bad hair few weeks for me

wow. that is a difference. cant say ive had a bad cut, but a very hideous blowdry. Kinda stuck to my head dead straight.

You must have sounded like you wanted a bit off???? I dont see how a hairdresser can mistake that much!! Good luck growing it back!

Life is replete with examples of true human catastrophes. A bad haircut, in the big scope of things, is not one. It will grow out and your situation will be better.
