No headlice cannot jump. They spread through direct contact and are incapable of jumping. If you or someone you know has them the best way to deal with them is to use lots of conditioner and comb with a fine tooth comb until all lice and eggs are removed. Then repeat this combing every couple of days to make sure that any missed eggs are gone and the infestation is completely erradicated.
To prevent the return of them ensure the head is checked and combed at least once a week.

yup.. I have been blessed so far, my kids have never had any.. but their friends have had.. and rule of thumb to my kids were "do not share you comb, careful where you hang your hat, and never try on hats in the mall..
