I can't get myself to sit down and study, I always think of better things I could be doing at the given moment. I have always been this way so I guess I never really knew how to study .. Does anyone have any good techniques to help me study? Especially since I have four tests this week before break .. I need to do good .. and basically need all the help I can get ..

Here is a tip from a college grad...... Cramming is NOT the anwser. One of the best study tips I have learned is to go over you notes or books just a few mintues a day for each of your classes the key is everyday, If you go over those lessons everyday you practially won't have to study much for the test. Trust me it works. Good luck on developing good study habits

I am like you....there's ALWAYS something better to do than study!! I end up cramming a lot but always manage to do pretty well (3.75 GPA)....I have 3 recommendations:

1) Chunk up your time....seriously, set a cell phone alarm or someting....tell yourself that you are going to sit and study whatever for, say 1.5 hours. Then take 20 minutes and get up and make a phone call or play online or whatever you do during a study break. In 20 minutes go back and do the same thing again. The key is not sitting for 6 hours....that SUCKS!

2) Always do as much studying as possible before bed. You brain works while you sleep to sort and "process" the information that you have crammed into it the day before. You have a better chance of actually getting info to stay put if you get it in your head the night before, sleep on it and then glance at your notes the next morning before the test.

3) Eat carbs. You brain runs on them....well, it actually runs on glucose, the substance carbs break down into....if you're going to cram you have to have a full tank of gas for your brain!

It must be finals week for you too. GOOD LUCK! It's almost over!!

Make a really long (the more details the better) study guide of all the subjects your test will be on. Then, highlight the most important parts of the paragraph and study that. Read the highlighted portions as often as you can. Then, try reading a subpoint of your subject and try to name as many details as you can.

I do this a lot, and I always get A's on my tests. But, I do write them out by hand first and then type them. The typing helps for studying later on, but the writing it out really helps the major points to stick in my head.

Good luck!
