Credit - up to 7 years
Bankruptcy - up to 10 years
Collection - up to 7 years + 180 days

Be careful with collection agencies! Those bastards try and reage your account so that the negative stays on for another 7 years!

The older the negative credit remark is the less impact it will have on your credit score (fico).

The account information stays on for 7 years, the remarks about the account can be changed anytime within the 7 years.

Negative credit information stays on your report for 7 years, 10 if it's a bankruptcy.
