excuse me I don't lock my dog in prison for those who ask .. me and my husband work so I'm not here to watch her 24/7 so when were gone I'm just asking for suggestions on how to make her stop chewing .. sometime I leave her in the cage sometimes I let her out ... just because I work doesn't mean I can't have a dog ..

Crating her IS the solution, so keep on doing that when you can't supervise her! Most dogs grow out of this between 16 months to 3 years.
p.s.crating is vet and dog trainer reccomended - not 'prison' as some are saying. Dogs act & think like dogs, not people, and actually have a denning instinct. It is also safer to crate them -vs- letting them eat drywall & possibly needing emergency surgery!

This really sounds like separation anxiety. You can talk to your vet or read about it on the web. Sometimes the dogs will outgrow it but sometimes it can get worse. The only no chew spray that works at my house is the Bitter Apple. If she is really suffering from Separation Anxiety, you may have a much bigger problem than chewing. You don't say how old she is. Her age is a factor in all this.
She will have to be confined for her own safety. She can swallow something that will make her very sick. Does she like it outside? Do you have a fenced area for her? She might be happier outside.
Talk to your vet. You might also consider a doggie daycare for her.
Good Luck.

Make sure you are giving your dog enough exercise and mental stimulation. Give her toys that keep her busy. Also, dogs are den animals by nature and it sounds like she does have seperation anxiety. She'll feel more secure in a crate. Some people think crating is cruel and it can be if you abuse it. I suggest you make a visit to your local bookstore and pick up a dog guide. For now, do not punish her when you come home to a disaster, she won't understand and it will probably make the problem worse. Good luck.

I bet she is young. If she is, this is called Juvenile Destructive Behavior, and is usually caused by boredom. There are these cages you can buy that you could put her in, then they can fold up and you can put them away. Talk to a vet, he can also help you with ideas. Best of luck to you.

well first thats pretty sweet that a dog has its own room. but try and put something in between the wall and your dog, like furniture or her cage, or maybe a small fence?

why do you have a pet if you want to lock it in a prison?!
most pets are a part of the family and, like children, can be taught what to do and what not to do. if this is beneath you then you shouldn't "own" a pet.

get the dog another home... if you cant train it give it to someone who will pay it more attention. its not a toy or a status symbol.
