I got parking ticket $250 (22500.1, fire zone) in Riverside County, California.
I felt that the fine amount was incorrect, anybody know the right amount and where to find the the proof that $250 is not the right fine amount? since I am going to fight this.

Quit parking in front of fire hydrants or in fire zones and you wouldn't have to worry about it. They make the fine very high so you think twice the next time and don't do it again. It could be the difference between life and death for someone if they have to fight their way around your car. Every second is critical.

Call the Riverside County police department. They can help you regarding telling you the proper amount. There could have been a slip of the pen, but anywhere fire zone parking is illegal and, I understand, carries a heavy price tag. I'm just going to explain something to you because you might not know. The reason law enforcement is so strict regarding parking in fire lanes, even if you were only going in somewhere for 5 minutes: Within that 5 minutes, a fire or medical emergency involving rescuing an individual or helping to load someone to be transported to a medical facility for treatment could happen. If a vehicle hinders the space, the necessary emergency personnel can't get to fire hydrants; they may not be able to get as close as what they may medically need to be. It's your issue, and I understand you're upset about the cost of the fine. If you're upset about the issue, based on what I've explained, do you still want to fight the ticket if you're fighting about the issue also? Please think about it.

$250 ? is that all ! ! The fine should be at least $1,000
If there is a fire hydrant in front of your house I dare you park there !
The fire lanes are there for a reason moron.
I saw a photo on the Internet that showed a 5 inch water line connected to the hydrant going thru someones car windows because the idiot parked right in front of the hydrant and there was a fire.
I have always told my fellow firefighters to give me the pleasure of busting out the windows if they come across that situation.
And guess what ? The police will not do anything about it for doing that and your insurance will not pay for replacing your window = )

The $250 fine is about right for the offense. Parking in a fire lane is a pretty serious parking offense.Remember that if you go to court and contest this ticket, and you lose, you will have to pay court costs, in addition to the $250 ticket.

You know, if there was a fire, and the fire department had to smash your car windows to run a fire hose through your vehicle and/or possibly nudge and move your car out of the way, even IF your car insurance WOULD cover the damages, (since you suffered them while breaking the law) and you have a $500 deductible, you are still ahead.
I would be ashamed to appear in court for such an offense.
This fine is to help you to remember NOT to park in a fire zone again. It was a no parking fire zone for a reason.
If you have a fire, would it upset you that the fire department was delayed in helping you while they had to deal with a vehicle parked in the wrong place while seconds count?
Just another perspective and something to ponder.

You're lucky it's only $250. You could have been charged a lot more had there been a fire and your car was in the way of an emergency vehicle. Hire an attorney and watch it cost you a lot more than $250. Pay the fine and don't park by fire hydrants and in fire zones any more.

In my city, they tow the car AND assess a fine.

Next time don't park in the fire zone. The fire department and ambulances need it in the event of an emergency. You knew perfectly well you didn't belong there. Consider your fine the "laziness" tax. Take your lumps like a man.

The code they cited you under is correct. The fine seems consistent as well.
If you were actually parked there, good luck fighting it. The two hardest parking tickets to get dismissed are Fire Lane & Handicapped Parking.

$250 OUCH!!!!! you can plead you case at traffic court infront of a JP but you will have to find out where that is in Toronto it should be near where you pay the fine in person (at least it is in my town). Last year my partner got her speeding ticket reduced by the JP to a no points ticket so it is at least worth a try
