i have very thick curly hair and found the only straighteners that work for me are GHD the big ones they are around £100 but r worth it. Be careful though cos if you straighten your hair all the time it becomes weak and thin.

Sounds like you need the Salon Styler from ghd, these are the wide ceramic plate model. They're about 2 inches wide have full ceramic plates and heat up to around 200-220 degrees.
Ghd's are the best because of the technology involved that keeps the temperature constant. In salon they cost £103.50, or on www.HQhair.com you can get them for £101.
But you must have protective products, if you use straigtheners at these temperatures without any protection you WILL fry your hair. Ghd have their own product range, or you can try Paul Mitchell Heat Seal for around £8-9 instead. Also make sure you have regular trims to keep the ends healthy.
Straighteners do take a bit of practice to use, but if you invest in a good pair you won't regret it!!

GHD are the best for me, they come in a range of widths but the professional salon styler are the ones i have. im not sure exActly how hot they get, id say around 200C so pretty hot. They can be expensive but are usually between £80-£100 from Salons or the Internet. I also own a pair of Wide plate ceramic Saks ones which get up to about 200C and they cost me £60. Both are fantastic products and i would recommend them both

I used to have GHD straighteners which were excellent, lasted a few years but then conked out. As I couldn't afford to replace these with GHD I bought the Nicky Clarke Ceramic straighteners and these, so far, seem just as good. They get really hot and have a variable temp control so can set to hottest for thick hair.... I think these were around £30-£40 from Comet.

GHDs are by far the best product to get. Especially for curly hair. I am a hair stylist and I know how difficult it can be sometimes.
GHDs are the only straighteners that will close the cuticle adding shine, they are quite pricy but they come with a garantee.
As they are one of the hottest straighteners around, they are better for your hair becuase they will not have to be repeatedly clamped to the hair, whereas a cooler pair would require a few gos.
GHDs are available in wide plate, standard and mini. I would recommend the larger ones, (£120) for curlier hair, although the normal ones are better for doing it yourself. (£100)
Most decent salons sell them.

The Babyliss Thermaglass Wide hair straightener uses unique ultra smooth glass plates and has been recently reduced in price by about 40%.
It also comes with its own stand which is really useful as hair straighteners are super hot.

I dn't think sarah is right!!! My sis has had her GHD's for ages & they've never, ever blown up. They blow up sometimes coz someones messsed with the fuse, durrrr!!!!!!!!!
GHD's are the best & leave you hair striaght for hours!!! They're also good, coz my sis said that after a while, when you're through straightening your hair, they'll turn themselves off!!! So if you leave them on accidently, they hopefully wont burn down your home!!! PLUS then come in pink aswell. Thye're usually around £100 but you can sometimes get them for £80 from some salons, pink are more expensive though!!!!
But if you don't want GHD's, BLISS are just as good. My hairdresser uses them & they're good, & make your hair really straight. I'm not sure how much, but I think they're cheaper than GHD's!!! They also come in pink!!!

GHD's blow up easily (i know someone that had to replace theirs 3 times in a year) and they cost about £100. I have extremely curly hair and find that FHI straighteners work well.. better then GHD's. FHI straighteners come in 2 colours (black or pink) and heat up to 232 degrees. They cost £50 and you can purchase them from Capital Hair and Beauty LTD - www.capitalhairandbeauty.co.uk there is a store locator on this website
hope this helps x

ghd wide plated ones.
ghd are the best they are about £100 and they are definately worth the money
you can get them from most salons that use them.
always use a straightening heat defence spray with them so you dont damage your hair.
and section your hair starting at the neck and work upwards to make it easier.
