Is it bad of us (non-hindu) to buy Krishna, Sai Baba, and Puja incences and dhoops to pray and meditate with if we don't beleive in your Gods, but only enjoy the fine fragrances? Thanks. I don't want to be disrespectful. I am assuming not many people who don't beleive in Christianity would buy Holy Santos candles for their homes...you get what I am saying.

I dont understand.....I am a hindu.......I dont see any reason why you should not use those incenses....?

If its makes you feel any better, In the holy book of the hindus called the Bhagavad Gita, the lord says....

"who ever workships me in whatever form, I will reach him through that form"

all religions pray to the same god using different forms and names and all prayers reach the same god......according to hinduism...

Incense is just incense right....what does it have to do with ur religion?

If you like the fragrances, that's fine. Not even all Hindus believe in the Gods. But there are probably some brands that don't have pictures of gods on them. If you feel guilty, maybe get those instead?

I can't speak firsthand, but I was in an Indian store that had lots of that kind of stuff, and I asked how the owner felt about Americans halfassing, so to speak, his religion.

He said that he believes some adoption is better than none, and he was all for people taking what benefited them from his traditions.

But, given his status as a merchant selling statues to yuppies, that kind of attitude would benefit his sales. So perhaps it wasn't representative.
