It depends upon where you are planning to go to. If you're going to a cold climate, pack to dress in layers. If you're going to a warm area, don't bring anything you wouldn't necessarily need. No matter what, pack light. Less is better. It's no fun to have to lug around extra weight if you don't have to. It's also nice to have extra room for souveniers to bring home.
