Any good home remedies for a chest cold?

I'm a nurse. OTC cold medicine is useful if you want to save a trip to the doctor office. Plenty of fluids, vapor rub, tea, and try not to eat heavy foods. Light things like broths and soups are good. Tylenol or Ibprofen (read the label and take as directed) will keep you comfortable while the cold is passing. If none of these things work , it could then be a virus. This is worse because no matter how much medicine or rest you get nothing relieves the discomfort. Try those things mentioned and remember, a virus has to run it's course (wear off). I hope you feel better soon. Christmas is near.
