I read in a book that complete-indoor cats can be dog-like. My cat is not a complete in-door cat, but he's still dog-like. I can't really explain it, but he just is.

He thinks that you're his mother - in fact, he's relating to your family like they are all his mother. Companion cats, even when they're indoor/outdoor, really never leave kittenhood emotionally. They know they're dependant on you for food so they want to be as close to you as possible. It's kind of cool.

People are always saying that my cat Mia is really a dog. A dog trapped in a cats body.LoL. My son's Chihuahua acts more like a cat than she does.Cats have their own little personalities.

It's just the way some cats can be. I had a tabby male like that--adopted him when he was very young but chose him because it was pouring rain and he was climbing all over the SPCA person trying to catch the raindrops pouring down. He talked to me and answered me, he immediately took to walking on a leash, loved playing in water and I had to be careful when I filled up the bath or I'd find him in there swimming around, and easily learned tricks. He played soccer with me, A truly great cat! Enjoy yours while you can because they live such bright but fast lives and leave us all too soon.

lucky you! i have a cat like that- when i talk to him, he meows back, comes when called, plays fetch, and can sit and shake like a dog. is yours an orange tabby? they tend to be like that for some reason. he is an indoor cat, and it was just him and me for a year before i got another cat. the other cat is very cat like- so they are opposites. He did not grow up around dogs, but when i take him to visit my family he adapts very well, and gets along great with their dog. cats that grow up around only people without other cats tend to be like this- they learn social behavior from humans and adapt to it very well

This cat either has a confusion problem because it has spent too much time around dogs or is too much involved in dog like activities. Some cats are very sport related in dog activities. It does not mean they're retarted or something. Infact this condition actually isn't rare. You'll have to except your cat. It's one of a kind, I actually think this behavior is kind of cool! My cat is a totally in-door cat but it doesn't act lke a dog. So that reason you were saying sounds unlikely.

It's just a quirk that some cats have. I've also seen a few dogs who thought they were cats.

It's just a personality trait with some cats, to be less independant then others. Just like humans. :)

Is he neutered? This can cut down their 'doggish' tendencies.
