If you booked a flight, you need to check and see what kind of airfare you purchased. Chances are, you probably are unable to cancel your flight. You may be able to reschedule your flight; something that Orbitz or the airline can do for you (may require an additional fee).

I once signed up for a travel adventure trip in Mexico (via Orbitz), only to find that we were never picked up by the sponsoring organization. Orbitz refunded my money and had very good customer support on this situation.

I had to cancel a reservation with Orbitz; I was supposed to visit New Orleans about a week after Hurricane Katrina hit, and even though the airport wasn't even opened back up yet, making it literally impossible for me to take that flight, I had a very difficult time cancelling the ticket. It is definitely worth asking Orbitz and even directly with the airline your ticket is with, but do not get your hopes up. Most of the tickets that are purchased through resellers such as Orbitz and Expedia are heavily restricted which means no cancellations, and changes only with a fee (usually $100).

If I had to talk to three levels of Orbitz managers till I could cancel my New Orleans travel, I am not very hopeful for your odds!
