What is a Soul?
Right in the very first book of the Bible, Genesis, we are told that the soul is not something you have, it is something you are. We read of the creation of Adam, the first human being: “The man came to be a living soul.” (Genesis 2:7) The Hebrew word used here for soul, ne'phesh, occurs well over 700 times in the Hebrew Scriptures, never once conveying the idea of a separate, ethereal, spiritual part of man. On the contrary, the soul is tangible, concrete, physical.
Look up the following cited texts in your own copy of the Bible, for the Hebrew word ne'phesh is found in each of them. They clearly show that the soul can face risk, danger, and even be kidnapped (Deuteronomy 24:7) touch things (Job 6:7); be locked up in irons (Psalm 105:18); crave to eat, be afflicted by fasting, and faint from hunger and thirst; and suffer from a wasting disease or even insomnia as a result of grief. (Deuteronomy 12:20; Psalm 35:13; 69:10;) In other words, because your soul is you, your very self, your soul can experience anything you can experience.
As for as brains, sometimes you think a person has one, then other times that they do not. But the answer to your ??? is: "so that you worship & talk to your creator."

honest answer here.
>>"Why do souls have bodies?"<<
why do driver's have cars?
>>"Why do souls even have brains?!?!?!"<<
why do driver's have engines?
oh wait, they don't.
you aren't grasping the nature of the thing. the soul is like the driver. the body is the car. the brain is the car's computer and engine.
the reason a driver has a car, is because it makes it easier to do the things (getting from one place to another) that the vehicle was designed to do.
the reason a Soul occupies a Body, is in order to make doing things in the physical realm, easier.
the soul exists just as much as the body does, in the same way that color exists even if a blind person is incapable of perceiving it.
who you are, is the soul. who you are, is temporarily attached to this physical husk. the brain is merely a device to run the body and assist the soul with some aspects of physical existance.
edit for below: >>"Have you ever seen a "soul" with or without a body ? I didn't think so, neither has anyone else. There ain't no such thing. "<<
actually yes, in fact, I have. your silly little arguement kinda falls apart right there. its like a person who was born blind saying "Has anyone (like me) ever seen color? of course not, so there is no such thing!" and if you try to tell them that in fact you can see color, they deny it, because they can't. its silly, foolish, arrogant and small minded.

A soul needs a body in order to interact with this world, where it has many opportunities to learn new skills necessary in the next stage of its conscious evolution, it is a necessay step for spiritual growth.

It goes back to Genesis. Adam was the original son of God. He was complete until Eve was taken out of him. He then became the son of God as a spirit (Christ) and a soul (the bride or eve). Well Eve decided to eat of the Tree of Knowlege to get smarter and in doing so forced Adam to do the same so they could "stay together" but in doing so they both "died" spiritually. So to say the spirit was dead. But the LORD God then created them "coats of skins". The soul was clothed with skin, literally, with the spirit dead in her to be someday fully awakend (raised) again. This is my spiritual interpretation of why we have physical bodies. Take with a grain of salt if you want. It makes sense to me though, Christ died in the garden as the first Adam to be raised spiritually again. It is the only way Eve could ever be saved and again return to the world of the spiritual, only if he ate too and died.
1Cor.15
[22] For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
[45] And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
Acts.5
[30] The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
Gal.3
[13] Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Matt.26
[39] And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this CUP pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
[42] He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this CUP may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. (the CUP represents the tree's fruit)
Eph.5
[31] For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. (how else can a man and woman be one flesh unless they ARE in ONE FLESH, each of us separately are one flesh, a soul (woman) and spirit (Christ)).
