There is no commandment I know of against alchohol. Do not get drunk and become a menace to yourself or others. I hope you are drinking at home where you do not have to drive after consuming enough alcohol to make you sleepy. BTW, there are other products on the market to help you sleep without resorting to alchohol which is, long term, even is light doses, not good for the liver. Try using lavender blossoms in a small satchel to put where you can smell it, to help you relax and sleep better. Lavender is a natural, non-harmful sedative that works through the nasal passages to help you sleep. Camomille tea is also a good relaxer. Just some alternatives.

All young people start with beer and in the long run they get addict to it.. Women work hard at home many times and many women struggled in their family but no woman is taking alcohol to make her relax, They tolorate the tension and go to sleep peacefully. So you can live without beer. What ever makes you or others encourage sinful activities is called a sinful action,

A man of lust or a man of anger can get salvation. A man of greed can come to the right path. But a person who drinks wine is never seen as being saved in this world.

the above is said by the kabir das ji and it is hard core fact weather you accept it or not. you are asking because you want justification of wrong doing .alchohal is the thing the need of which increases with time . that time it will be very difficult to control. because after some time the same quantity of alchohal would not give you enjoyment or unconsiousness for sleeping then you will add the quantity. so it is treated bad thing .

The key is moderation.

“WHO has woe? Who has uneasiness? Who has contentions? Who has concern? Who has wounds for no reason? Who has dullness of eyes? Those staying a long time with the wine.” (Proverbs 23:29, 30)

Yes, the Bible acknowledges that alcoholic drinks can produce some very evil effects: hallucinations, shameful conduct, psychotic behavior, health disorders, family problems, and even poverty.

Note that the above Bible text talks of those “staying a long time” with wine, habitual drunkards! For such ones, alcohol is like a poison, often causing adverse physical and mental effects. (Proverbs 23:32-35)

Heavy drinkers can lose self-control and begin to do things they would normally be ashamed of. The Bible thus warns: “Do not come to be among heavy drinkers of wine, among those who are gluttonous eaters of flesh. For a drunkard and a glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe one with mere rags.” (Proverbs 23:20, 21)

Drunkenness is also classed among “the works of the flesh,” which can debar one from entering God’s Kingdom.—Galatians 5:19, 21; 1 Corinthians 6:10.

We as christians will be judged for everything..
I take the point of view that alcohol is the #1 drug problem in the USA and the alcohol makers are getting rich off of it. How much do I want to help them in what they are doing?? I can drink a lot of other things that are good for me and they say that alcohol destroys brain cells, (How many can you afford to lose?)
There are some good natural herb teas that will do better than alcohol. It just isn't sensible for a christian to support the drug problem of the country, we have the solution ..

You are looking to something else other than God for comfort, then yes that is a sin.

Alcohol is not a sin in itself. Drunkenness, undoubtedly what you are referring to, is.

1 Peter 4:3 (New International Version)
3For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.

The reason Christians should not drink alcohol, is because it causes other christians to stumble, because they were once slaves to such practices.

1 Corinthians 8:10-12 (New International Version)
10For if anyone with a weak conscience sees you who have this knowledge eating in an idol's temple, won't he be emboldened to eat what has been sacrificed to idols? 11So this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. 12When you sin against your brothers in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

This is why christians should not drink. To forsake an old practice for the sake of other believers.

These commands are for believers. If you do not follow Jesus, you are condemned already because you have not believed in the only begotten Son of the Father.

The things that are clearly mentioned in the Quran are haraam. There are no catagories as more ***** or most *****. Disrespect to women is bad, its advised not to do so, and who ever is doing will be punished in hereafter, and also disrepect to other religion doesnt come in the catagory of ***** but its also not advised in quran. If u r drinking alcohol that is ' *****' u should ask forgiveness fromAllah tala, but dont try to justify urself that u r not doing more ***** things.

The danger of drinking alcohol lies in; that it is an addictive substance. Not everyone that has a drink is addicted, however, over a period of time one may become addicted, and then it is difficult and often takes treatment, to be able to function again

yes, you shouldn't get drunk. you know why? all those off days you drink is destroying your liver. it will lead to liver damage and God doesn't want that, find a different way of relieving tension. like meditation, sports, exercise, etc.
