Its a comfort thing and especially if you've had the cat since it was a kitten theres a good chance it stems from separation of its mother. Although thats not necessarily true. I've got two families of critters and the youngest generation, despite being 9 months old, they still kneed and suckle on the fur of my older female who isn't even their mother, but more of a surrogate as she helped raise them. Said surrogate mother is 6 years old and she still kneeds me whereever she pleases and licks the dickens out of my forehead and nose when she wants attention.
The cat feels a bond to you and perhaps the warmth and smell of your armpit is something he feels a nice strong joy towards. Mine tend to sleep in my dirty laundry when im not around and burrow under my covers.
Rest assure...they love you. =)

One of my cats, Calimander the tortie-tabby, does this to my husband. She doesn't do it to my daughter or to me. She just absolutely adores my husband, and will do the armpit thing whenever my husband settles into the "Cali cat chair" as we describe it. My husband is both embarrassed and pleased by the attention. We joke that Cali, who is a very small, feminine little cat, is overwhelmed by my husband's testosterone and male pheromones. Whatever the cause, Cali just loves putting her muzzle in my husband's armpit and cuddling him.

There are some smells that make cats go crazy. I know one who loved deodorant as well(though it could easily be your own personal odour he likes as well). I know of cats that love the smell of SOME peoples feet.
Its similar to the kind of effect cat nip has on some cats but not others. Basically, to them you smell good.
Thats the most likely explanation. There is the other option that they are just cold. haha ;)

My cat used to roll around in my shirts after I took them off and just purr and go crazy...
To the cats its like a comfort thing. They love the smell of you. It makes them feel comfortable and save.
All cats have that one or two smells they react to, and to those cats, the smell is you!
Be happy and enjoy the cats, they really are blessings...

It is probably because it is a good smell to them. I have a cat that if I just put my hand on the side of my leg he will stand on his hind legs and try to rub against it. If you couldn't guess if is soooo affectionate. He rubs all over me, and when I'm lying on my bed, he'll go in between my body and arm. So he probably just wants some love, and it smells good to him.

probably because you smell! Isn't that nice to know?! Really, cats like that smell, it reminds them of their mother, and it's a safe place! It's really alright, cats noses are a lot lot lot more sensitive than people's so you probably don't smell to people, but it seems that you must be good to your cats, or they wouldn't like your smell! Take it as a compliment! Thanks for taking such good care of God's creatures!

My friends cat does it, sometimes, depending on who's armpit it is, his head will smell like BO.
