If i got an army Rotc scholarship, it would pay for my entire college tuition for 4 years. However, I would then owe the military 4 years in either the active duty army, the army national guard, or the army reserve. Out of the guard and the reserve, which one would most likely send me overseas to fight and or live?

Well, 1st off, 'Combat Situations' are normally reserved for a 'Combat Related MOS' so not everybody in the Army Reserves/Guard will be in a 'Combat Situation' but to answer your question, they are both getting deployed rather often. I know in Colorado (Where I'm From) the Colorado National Guard has been deployed more than the Reserves but all I can speak for is my home state...

I'm in the Army National Guard. The force was completely reorganized, and the National Guard now accounts for almost half of the nation's combat force, and the Reserves only one percent. It didn't used to be that way, but I think it was Clinton who did the whole reorganization. The Reserves can still get deployed, and even as much, but the National Guard is more likely to see direct combat.

Reserves should be the answer, but now a days, the national guard is treated just like reserves.

I woukd say the reserves to, but you have to remember, President bush or any other president might be using the troops left here to protect the borders, if there are two conflicts, you would be sent to the other one, there is no way to completely get out of everything. They may even use the coast guard or reserve units for homeland security.

Under the current circumstances it's 50% of one half dozen of the other. However traditionally the reserves go first because the Pres. is their CIC. The Guard CIC is the state governor until they are Nationalized and that takes some congressional authorizations
