Really good as an addition to chili con queso along with jalapeno, celery, yellow onion, cilantro, green onion, tomato and a squirt of lemon. All the vitamin C should surly help your immune system which should help the underlying cause of the cough so the answer is:

Unless you are really into eating peppers ... try buying the extract at a health food store (capsicum) . For more info put capsicum + throat in a seach engine
