Codein do not give you a high or a "trip". They are a powerful painkiller but there are others. Vicodin will not be possible as you suspect. Your dentist will advise you what to take, make sure he is reminded of your allergy before the procedure..;

Codeine is actually a very mild painkiller as far as something like removal of wisdom teeth goes. In fact, it's an over the counter drug in many places under Tylenol's name, even in Canada!
Vicodin may be perscribed, and is relatively common for something like wisdom teeth removal. If you cannot take that, they may use an alternative, but reasonably similar strength drug, such as Percocet, which is Oxycodone and Acetaminophen (Tylenol). Though there are a number of other painkillers that can be used as well.
While true, you will feel good on these, there isn't a "bad trip" so to speak, because there are not hallucinagenic side effects. Similarly, if you had a headache and took rapid release Tylenol extra strength gels, you would feel very good, but it would be impossible to have a "bad trip."
The only thing that could be interpreted as a "bad trip" would be an allergic reaction, or accute side effects, such as nausea or dizzyness. But that can come with anything from antibiotics to cold medicine.
Hope this helps!

You are not the only person allergic to codeine. There are other pain medicines--although I can not name them. Ask you dentist what he will give you since you are allergic to codeine. If you want to know before the extraction--call his office and ask. This might give you more confidence. Good luck.

Are you truly allergic, or do they make you sick?
Hydrocodone / oxycodone are safe for most people who are allergic to codeine. Trust your dentist.

Good question, I don't know, I am allergic to more so I can't tell you, but I know I just can't take any. If you don't have to have them out now, you may want to find out before. If you can't take anything, that can change what you have done, and is better than finding out after, I promise it is.
