We as Christians do lie about Gods character every day of the week. Humans are sinful, meaning they cannot imitate God perfectly. We will fail at some point and God will be defamed. But what is so Great about God is that He forgives. He has finished the work of our redemption through Jesus Christ. And our being able to come to him when we have failed most miserably tells more about the goodness of His character than my perfect performance ever could.

Why would a Christian do that? We love God and tell people the truth about His character that He loves everyone so much that He gave His only son Jesus up to be crucified in our place to pay for our sins. If someone defames Him, then they are not a Christian even if they are claiming to be.

Get to Know God Better
In order to love God and give him the exclusive devotion that he deserves, we need to know him as he truly is. How can we get to know God better? "His invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world's creation onward," says the Bible, "because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship." (Romans 1:20) One way to get to know God better is by observing and reflecting appreciatively on what he has created.

The creation, however, does not tell us all we need to know about God. For instance, to understand that he is a real spirit Person with a unique name, we need to look into the Bible. Studying the Bible is, in fact, the best way to come to know God better. In the Scriptures, Jehovah tells us much more about the kind of God he is. He also reveals his purposes to us and educates us in his ways. (Amos 3:7; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17) How glad we can be that God wants us to "come to an accurate knowledge of truth" so that we can benefit from his loving provisions! (1 Timothy 2:4) Let us, then, make every effort to learn all we can about Jehovah.

False Christians do that all the time. That is why God says it is your responsibility to find Him and you are to search for Him as if for fine treasure. Any person who knowingly misleads another away from God is blaspheming the holy spirit (the key word here is knowingly) and will not be forgiven. That doesn't mean burning in hell forever and ever either--it just means eternal death.

Dear roquer,

I would suggest that you read the Bible to see if what you are being told is truth. The Bible states: "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39).

God(s) is only what you make of it. Trust me there are no truths on what god is, was, or ever will be. Only what YOU perceive. Thats why I'm one of my own gods.

And what we would benefit for it? The Gospel is good news about that God loves you. What is wrong with that?
