Orange! A few years ago a friend of mine didn't believe me so she fed me a tube of smarties whilst I was blindfolded and I correctly identified all the orange ones.

I have since seen the following magazine article:

When smarties were first introduced on 1937 they were known as chocolate drops and came in 4 flavours - milk chocolate in most colours, plain chocolate in the dark brown shell, coffee in the light brown and orange. In 1958 consumer research led to milk chocolate replacing all the flavours with only the orange remaining because it was so popular.

all smarties taste the same. Its just chocolate in a sugar casing thats dyed a colour

I find they all taste the same but the orange does taste of chocolate orange...
