Interesting. By adding 'live peaceful godly lives', you change this question from a dumb rant to a thoughtful question. Religious ppl are often indeed very far from spiritually aware folks. Terrorists, Crusaders, Inquisitors, and Witch burners are highly religious. And many of them have indeed killed many of God's Saints. But rather than wishing that they would kill each other, I'd wish that they would wake up to the reality of a loving God.

Hello again, Cat. In theory I do, at least the fundamentalist nutters all round could off themselves, but then maybe a new evil would pop up.
My response to your other question explained the idea of why Christians are willing to use violence.
I do think many of us, Christian and non Christian do yearn for peace in the world. A peace, that apparently will not be had until (if we believe any of the bible), the Prince of Peace comes to claim reign.
My problem with that is it has been over 2,000 years, and he still hasn't shown up. The wait grows wearysome indeed. It almost makes me wonder why people still believe in him.
But I like Christmas anyway...

It is frustrating I think for us atheists when we can't understand why so many religions purport to preach forgiveness, understanding and tolerance but the followers take what they want to from the teachings and adapt them for their own convenience.

So, from that point of view, yes, sometimes I wish these sorts of people would go away, but no, I don't wish they'd kill each other. Just if they went off and occupied somewhere where they could all be tolerant/intolerant of each other without putting other peoples' lives at risk, that'd be my preference.

No. Truly religious people are peaceful, kind & contribute a great deal to society. I don't consider Bush to be a religious man even though he gives Christianity lip service. He does not practice what Jesus taught us in the New Testament & is one of those people who gives Christianity a bad name. He is a good example of someone who is a bad example.

certainly all those religious people who encourage death and violence upon others should be taken off the planet, that goes for the end timers who should just be taken out......as for normal people who just have a belief in an their so called god, so long as they keep their preaching to themselves then they should be able to live peacefully, but basically i like where your coming from

I'd say you're a sick, sick, man!
