I am 16 years old and want a dog. My friend's dog just had puppies and he offered me one. They are housebroken. Here is my argument. Tell me how concinving it seems to you. Suggestions welcome. Point gamers get reported.
I am 16 years old, and have the time and energy to look after a dog. I have had two dogs before (one adult and one puppy). Even though a dog is a family pet, I cared for both dogs with very little help from my family. I walked the dogs twice a day, fed them, and trained them. I believe I am very responisble. I have had A's and B's all my life (except in chemistry, where I fell one point short of a B) and I have babysat my younger brothers (7 and 11) many times. My brother (11) has a lizard that he barely takes care of. My parents are going to let him have another lizard so that he will have two. I however, took good care of my dogs when I had them.

Well my first dog bit my younger brother and my parents decided she had to go. We decided we still wanted a dog and that if we got another dog soon, it would relieve my brother of being scared of a dog. That dog ened up getting fleas and my parents just decided to get rid of him. He was the puppy and was barely house trained. But a new puupy would be a fresh start.

You have given us a very convincing argument. I would leave out the part about how your brother barely takes care of his lizard. It's just going to sound like whining, so I wouldn't go into that part, but the part about how he is allowed to have multiple pets would be worth mentioning.

Exceptions to my yes-you-can-have-a-dog would be:
* someone in the house is allergic to dogs
* someone in the house has been bitten by a dog and is afraid of them
* finances are tight in the family and so feeding a vet bills may be problematic
* your homeowners insurance company won't let you have a dog of the breed your friend has offered you
* you live in an apartment that doesn't allow dogs

If all of the rest of these conditions are satisfied, you go ahead and tell them that a Mom on Yahoo answers said you could have the dog...LOL! Incidentally, my permission and a dollar will get you a Pepsi out of the machine up the street...

You are proving a good argument but you need to think about the future too. Since your 16 you will be heading of to college soon. So now you just need to find a dog the whole family is comftorable with. It does not have to be a full blood dog. As for your friends dog i suggest you ask you parents if you can keep one for 3 days. Take the best possible care for it you can and try to show your mom and dad that you are very responsible and that might work but if not then just bring up every thing you possibly can about your grades your past dogs and how resposible you are. I'm sure that will work hope it helped.

Dogs are plenty of accountability, just like having a baby. You have to teach a dog and this is a very onerous, attempting mission that calls for consistency and endurance daily. If you're simply turning thirteen, it's most likely that over the following couple of years, your social lifestyles is not going to enable you to be at residence to spend the form of time with a puppy that it demands. What will you do whilst you move to school? You cannot take it with you. Who will permit it out each a million-three hours whilst you're in institution till it learns to maintain it 6-eight hours? You additionally must don't forget how much cash it charges to have a puppy every yr. Hundreds to 1000's of bucks...meals, vet costs, pictures, flea healing, heartworm remedies, vaccinations, grooming, county license, and many others. Getting a dog is a selection as a way to impact your mother and father. They will must force you to the vet appointments and aid you to maintain monitor of the entire matters that a puppy demands. I have 2 puppies, and rise up at five:00a.m. EACH AND EVERY morning, no excuses, to stroll those puppies earlier than I move to paintings (even in a storm from snow!!!). I additionally do the equal at 10:00p.m. every night time so they've been exercised and can sleep. It is exceptional that you're so handy and liable across the condominium and maintain your different pets so good...stick to that for now. :)

My parents just let me get a dog. It took me a week to convince them! Try writing a paper or something, or sit down and discuss why you should get a dog. If your parents say no, don't scream or anything, that will just show that you are imature. try to calmly tell them why you should get a dog. and, If you have a job (If you don't have a job, then ask your parents to help you with it.) Try to get into an obeidience school or something, that way your parents can be sure that there won't be any problems with bad behaivior, well, i hope this works for you, good luck!

What happened to that previous 2 dogs then? you seem like a very responsible person for a 16 yr old. Good Job!

I have 2 dogs, i took in because the previous master didn't have time, he is a shih zhu, quiet and gentle, didn't make nosie at all, i thougt my mom would accept him immdly but she wants the dogs out.

The dog has been throught too much for me to find a new owner, i have moved out on my own nw with my bf, we are both 22. We love our dogs.

You have to talk to your parents, take a pic of your friends pup and show it to them, and let them knw that u are responsible enough to take care of em.

Also, make sure that you save some of your daily alllowance, to in case you need to bring the pup for grooming or staralise, u can let ur parents knw tt u have already saved the money for that. i think with that, they should be pleased.

If not, tts too bad. good luck!

You have a good argument, however what are your plans after highschool? If you plan to go to college then what will happen to the dog? Vet bills, how will you pay those? How about dog food, toys, leash, collar, etc. You many want to convince your parents to get the dog as a family pet instead.

If they don't want a dog, they will never be nice to it. Wait 2 years until you're out of the house and you can have as many dogs as you want.

write down everything you typed into your question, and use that on your parents. you seem very responsible, so it would make sense for your parents to get you a dog.
