What type of operation? There are major and minor operations.Minor surgery that does not involve the area where the cold sore is ( mouth ), will push through. In cases of major surgeries where the patient has to undergo asap, the procedure will go on provided that the sterility of the area of concern will not be jeopardize. The patient must not have any fever or sign of infection. This will be a factor of postponement or re-scheduling until the patient is perfectly normal. Hope this helps. God bless

it depends how badly the patient needs the surgery. if it is elective, they will probably wait.
