This is a quote from an R&S answer I just read:

"If atheists are so happy, why do they spend all of their time obsessed with Christianity? If Yahoo Answers is any indication, atheists are more devoted to Christianity than most Christians!"

I'd like to point out that Y!A R&S is *not* a Christian forum, and people come to ask and answer about *all* faiths.

I'm an (extremely happy!) atheist pagan, and I live in America. I know all I care to know about Christianity, but here on R&S I have learned more about Islam, Judaism and Buddhism than I could in the provincial town in which I live.

What's your belief and why are you here today?

What have you learned that you might otherwise have missed out on?

.

Shemus, if you're scared by pagans, there is a good chance you do not understand what one us. We follow a nature oriented faith.

I'm Buddhist. I don't believe so much as adhere to a Path. There isn't a Dogma but there is the Dharma. The term believe doesn't apply to me because it is through concentrated effort in contemplative and other types of meditation that I realise the true nature of my existence I don't just believe because someone told me to if you follow my logic.

Why do I visit this forum....well firstly I like to hear other peole's views and try to answer other's questions regarding Buddhism to dispel misunderstandings...I try to correct other's misconceptions regarding their own Dogma, I try to understand other's point of view, and mostly because its fun....

I've learned for example that most peole think Buddhists believe in reincarnation...that they are wrong on both counts...

That most Christians are misguided with respect to the soul....they think that it has personality and character, I even heard one talk about their soul having gender...I understand the nature of the soul but I understand their perspective, try to correct their misguided perseption but ultimately respect their view as they're taught about it rather than purposefully concentrrate the mind and thought on the subject....its an interesting experience to see from another's perspective but it is more difficult to display restraint when faced with an utter untruth and hold one's toungue, so I use it as practise for my own benefit too....

I want to see wisdom displayed and I visit here to see if I can find any...I do but rarely...it makes a nice change...

Peace....

The fact of the matter is christians have a tendency to bash on the atheists really badly, in front of them and behind their backs. Atheists, therefore, have to defend their right to believe anything they want. The christians only want to make life miserable for every other religion, which I don't understand; They force their beliefs in everyone's face, they try to recruit atheists into christianity, they tell everyone who's not christian that they are devil worshippers. I don't see what's so great about being christian after my observations over the last three years when all they do is talk bad about everyone else. They especially have Islam even though they have the same monotheistic beliefs as they do.

I'm a 2-year Pagan and proud to report that Atheists are my friends. Anyone who has anything bad to say about us, remember; what goes around comes around, even in thoughts.

I am a christian and i come on here to get advice from other Christians but Atheist always try to ruin it with "say no to Jesus" and "that fairy tail"

I have learned that a lot of people are missing out on the truth in life and are cough up on idols like money, fame, science and other true fairy tails.

You are correct about R&S is for everyone of every faith but certain people like to spread their hate to others trying to learn

First I would not expect such a thing from such a worldly device as Yahoo.

Secondly, most of the "religious" questions on here do not have to do "honestly" with people seeking an understanding, they are just flapping their keyboards for lack of any real intelligent answers.

Third, I enjoy answering questions that have to do particularly with Christianity, since I am a Christian and a writer. yet I find that there are very few receptive to honest answers. But those who just want their ears tickled. (a biblical term)

Fourth, I believe wholly in the LORD Jesus Christ who is the LORD of Heaven and Earth, who was sent to this earth to die for my sins, that he was crucified, buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures and that he sits at the right of God Almighty, who intercedes on behalf of the saints of God, who will come again to judge the quick and the dead, and my hope is set in his appearing. I believe in the universal church of the past 2000 years of unbroken line from the early apostles to this day. I believe in the Holy Scriptures that makes one wise unto salvation, 66 books, that are inerrant, God-breathed and fully capable of producing revelation in every generation to light the way to God. I believe in the Resurrection of the dead, in which the dead in Christ shall rise first, and then those who are still alive will be caught up in the air to be with the Lord forever, and that all who believe in Christ wholeheartedly will recieve the salvation of their souls and those who refuse Christ's gracious offer of sin will suffer eternally in the Lake of Fire where all the unrepentant suffer forever and ever.

what I have learned only emphasizes how degenerate and unholy man has fallen, not a holier than thou attitude just a sad commentary on humanity.

Why am I here? Other than an obsessive need to be right?

Oh, wait, that was out loud, wasn't it? ;)

Mostly to share information, discuss stuff, and interact with people. It's a good way to occupy some time, and pick up some opinions on things.

I believe, like some Native Americans, in the sacred circle of life, where all things are interdependent on one another and no part of the circle is greater than any other part. This, of course, requires no savior. And I believe in the evolution of intelligence. I'm here to question those of faith in a Socratic manner until they see their way free of mythology.....

I am Buddhist. I came here originally thinking perhaps I could answer some Buddhist questions but now realize I really came here because I hadn't resolved my grudge against Christianity and how it let me down. I am now at peace with Christianity and hold no more grudges.

I am a Buddhist and I am here to learn more about the faith of others. I particularly like the Islamic posters who seek to explain their Faith on a (sometimes) hostile forum.
I am always happy to hear about other, less mentioned faiths like Wicca and zoasterism.

Ahura Mazda FTW! =)

Why, the Spirit of truth is why I believe.

To sow seed is why I'm here.

So be happy but the flesh will perish.

We can be happy also and live forever.

I have learned there are basically three types of people.

Those who hate God or anything Godly.
Those who don't care one way or the other.
Those who have been deceived by doctines of men.
