some of you keep going on and on about this "unforgiveable" sin. So, you're saying that if satan can just get people to commit that sin (whatever it is...none of you agree on that) then he's defeated god in that instance because god is unable to forgive that person?
That's weird.
Opinions?

Huh?
No, god would lose in this case. No way around it. He can't retrieve the "lost soul". He can't.
So, he's omnipotent in every way but that instance. Are there any others?

most saying the same thing...satan influences people....and clearly, his influence can defeat god and damn people to hell.
It's odd, because basically, if you are saying that if you fall for his tricks, god will punish you forever.
Weirder and weirder....

Yes Satan can win. That's why the earth is so full of darkness these days. The reason why it's unforgivable is because the sinner knows the difference between right and wrong. They should be forgiven for a sin that they didn't know was wrong because they were never taught. God judges people by what they know, not by what anyone never bother to teach them.

Most of the time, the 'unforgivable sin' isn't committed because of Satan, its committed because of greed, stupidity or pride. The sin we're talking about is lying against the Holy Spirit. Read Acts 5, the Story of Annanias and Sapphira, his wife. They sold some land, kept back part of the money and told (bragged to everyone) that they gave it all to the early church. The elders, detecting the lie through the Holy Spirit, asked again if they gave it all, however this time, by lying to the Holy Spirit, they incurred its wrath and were instantly destroyed for lying to it. We see also in Rev. 21, the Lake of Fire, which is THE SECOND DEATH, or ETERNAL DESTRUCTION - not HELLFIRE. This is where they were sent too when they were killed. They were destroyed eternally, not punished in hellfire. God doesn't have the need to "burn" people, he will simply put them out of mind in the second death which will be a kinder death than Hellfire.

If God or the Superior Being is pure love, forgiveness and grace, he could not, or would not create a being who's sole purpose in existence is evil, with no chance to evolve to be better. If Satan was not created by God, Satan must have been created before God, which cannot be correct for God is the first cause of all things. Hence, a being solely evil cannot exist.

God is not defeated necessarily, because in the end He will win. He even brings good from evil, because in the end, even evil serves good. Think about it ;-).

EDIT:

Define "lose", how can He lose a being that has made the decision to completely and utterly rejected Him? From that exact point of deciding to reject God and living a life dedicated to Satan, you are no longer a child of God, you are follower of Satan with the seeds of evil within you. God is omnipotent in the sense that he CAN, if He WILLS it, take away the Freewill of Man.........but that would be a contradiction to his Character.

Satan in bounded and won't be released until just before Jesus returns Rev 20:2 "He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and BOUND him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the NATIONS anymore until the thousands years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time"

he's bound meaning he doesn't have COMPLETE control of us anymore, but he can still influence us to sin, but we ALLOW for it to happen, Satan can no longer FORCE us to do sin.

No one can get to the Father but thru the Son Jesus whom he gave authority over all things what a person does in his own free willed life affects God in no way but only his own soul. The Deciever,Prince of the Earth Satan is ever watchfull for souls to lead astray that is why if a person values his soul he will fully arm himself against false teachings and prophets he also tested Jesus the Son of God but did not succeed for Jesus was prepared by God.

It's not God that has been beaten, the person that made the bad choice is the one that lost. Satan attacks Christians all the time, it's up to us to rely on God and ask Him to protect us from Satan and He will.
