1. If your insurance covers 'any driver' - go with the person to the compound, produce the car insurance, that person's insurance and their driving license. Collect the car and as soon as you are away from the compound you can drive.
2. Go to the same police station with someone who has fully comprehensive insurance and a driving license. Take your cars insurance with you. Get the necessary stamps and attend the compound and collect your car.
One or the other should suffice....................
(ps. I should have a word with your Insurers/Insurance Agent as all Insurance is now on the Central Computer at DLVC which also includes M.O.T.'s.................)

I honestly do not understand the problem you are having. It is common practice that police will check the legal owner insurance, tax details of any car and now mot via pnc check. You have said that the driver had no insurance but you have .Does this mean you were not driving at the time. If this is the case then it is true that they will impound the car until the other driver produces. were you aware at the time that the driver had no insurance if not you can file a complaint for unlawful use against the other driver , but keep in mind that this could be VERY bad for him or her. If you did know you could also face some other charges for knowingly allow this person to drive your vehicle. Also how much is the vehicle worth because usually you pay huge amounts for storage at the pound usually about £140 + Vat then £20- £30 per day plus towing the last time I heard. So if its only a banger let it go but still produce if you have to. But if you weren't driving its not you but the other driver as well.

some issues. the superb suggestion is to attempt your community insurance broking service as many direct businesses basically choose experienced drivers. you also get the great thing about loose specialist suggestion and once you've any queries you may continually pop in to work out them! ward off Quinn like the plague - study their insurance coverage to make certain why - that is a lot worse than others accessible. make confident that his friends have prolonged their insurance coverage to enable him to force beforehand he is going out of their autos - see the certificate of insurance it may both have his call on it or 'someone utilizing with the policyholder's permission or with their consent' - this cap isn't stumbled on very in many circumstances lately by way of the indisputable fact that is extremely severe priced and human beings choose low-cost regulations (until eventually they declare that's!) on the problem of the insurance on the motor vehicle - your husband would have an unintended damage extra of doubtlessly £three hundred - £four hundred if he buys finished conceal so if the motor vehicle isn't well worth very a lot third get at the same time fireplace and robbery would nicely be a significantly better selection - back any broking service well worth his salt will furnish prices on both concepts (each from time to time finished conceal on an previous motor vehicle with a severe extra is more cost-effective than TPF&T conceal and a minimum of you get the windscreen lined!)

You could be done for permitting your car to be used by someone without insurance. The licence can be checked on the computer.

If you used the same attitude to the police as you have in your question, no wonder you didn't get any help. Politeness and courtesy costs nothing. I can answer your question 100% accurately as I worked for the police in the U.K. dealing with these problems every single day. However your attitude sucks so I guess I'll keep my knowledge to myself on this occasion.

i would ask the officer at the police station to call the dvla directly to verify that you hold a driving liscence that along with some proof of id should do it. i know that when i worked in insurance motor claims the car rental company could do this.
good luck
