well, my cat's names are: Bullet, ratface, flea, tess, dot, and squeek. Hmmmm. I'd say offhand that the name you pick and use is really a personal matter! I named mine after the places they came from and their personal traits. Bullet came from the police shooting gallery, somebody stupid dropped her off there. Tess came from St Theresa's church she was half frozen when we got her. You could see the tire tracks in the snow, then her little footprints leading into a corner. In January, below zero weather. She has frostbitten ears. Squeek has that name cause that's how she talks, Dot has a spot on her foot, and Spot is a boy's name so she's Dot, Flea looked like a flea when we got her, all legs and skinny. Another throw-away by some really stupid person. ( she's wonderful company) Ratface was another throwaway, we found her in a park, with enormous eyes looking terrified, but she was so hungry and so tiny. I caught her and took her home. She's been with us for 2 years, and still has those beautiful eyes, but they're not afraid any more.
So you see, what we did mostly is what the American Indians do, or did, name the little one after the first thought that comes into your mind that means something about the new dear one!
Good luck, may your new baby be happy with you. And you with the little one!

I always find the best thing to do is let the cat name itself. With many of my cats, I've tried all sorts of names that just never seemed to stick...they wouldnt respond to them or anything. A lot of the cats I've had have had to grow into their names. Best bet is to wait and see when you get the kitten, watch how it plays and interacts, many a time their name will just come to you and you'll know its right.
But if you're still not sure, I find the best thing to do is to make a list of some of the names you like and go from there. You'll know when you've come to the right name to fit the personality the kitten will grow into. =)

Naming is always easier when you look at it's physical characteristics for instance, a cat with white covering it's feet could be called Socks. The possibilities are endless if you look at it's personality and looks, yyou could even get two cats and name one Ben, one Jerry, or salt and pepper, or prince and princess! lol God bless you and your kitty and always smile, smile, smile!

Since you're getting him for Christmas, how about one of the following:
Holly
Noel
Chris
Nicholas/Nick
Kringle
Claws
Santa
Or perhaps something referring to winter:
Snowball
Frosty
Mittens
Have fun! He's cute. Love the eyes.
