In the Babylonian Talmud (Sanhedrin 37A), the Talmud “to save one life is like saving an entire world:'

The Talmud in Sanhedrin 37a emphasizes the sanctity of the life of the individual human being ... “To save one life is tantamount to saving a whole world.

The passage correctly reads as follows: "Whoever destroys even a single life in Israel, Scripture regards him as if he had destroyed an entire world. And whoever saves a single soul in Israel, Scripture regards him as if he preserved the entire world." (Steinsaltz Talmud, Sanhedrin 37a, Vol. XVII, p.68.)

Makes it a bit more complicated and yes, the quote is often used
as others noted

So even if you will never ever make everyone grateful that you exist, there will be at least one person who is very thankful that you were there for them. I think.

Find another quote and use it instead.

"To the world you may be but one person; but to one person you may be the world."
