Why do I join online dating sites, start chatting with guys by e-mail and then when they ask to call or meet me I feel like I have no intention? I go into it interested but then when it comes time to actually meet them I have no interest (?). I don't understand why I do that...

One explanation is that chatting is what you like. Chatting allows you to talk freely without caring about the other's presence, and with no compromise. When you go to "real" compromise may arise.
Another explanation is that you still did not meet the right guy.
Third explanation is that the best and natural way to meet people is in person. Try to meet people in person and you will feel better. Many people dating online are married or compromised. That is why they go online. Real "free" people are the "real" ones, not the virtual ones. Think about why you need to meet people online and try to go "live".

Could be maybe that you're scared, or just not really interested in meeting someone from online and rather meet them somewhere where you had the chance to talk to them. I know I met a guy from those online dating sites and after meeting him I have no interest in meeting other guys from those sites. Not cuz they arent good looking or seem nice just because meeting this guy gave me an experience and we were dating, but then it ended. Basically you probably don't feel safe

You're afraid.

Don't give out any personal information like what city you live in or where you work or such. Don't give them your last name, just your first name. Meet these guys on neutral ground and bring a friend for safety; someone who won't mind hanging out at the bar while you and your online date have dinner or drinks. Don't let him walk you to your car; you don't want him to get your license plate number.

Have a good time and if all goes well and you decide you can trust the online guy then you can start divulging information like you would normally do. If the date doesn't go well, then say thanks for the dinner/drink and move on to the next online date.

Just keep it safe and hope for the best!

I don't understand either. You probably just enjoy the "chase" and the feeling that you are desirable to other men. Online dating can get expensive, especially if you're at a pay site, so if you have no intention, and you recognize this, you should just stop wasting time and leading these men on and try another method of meeting guys.

It's a typical female trait of feeling that you can get reactions from men, or on a more favorable note it's possibly your intuiion telling you that this isn't really the best way to meet dates.

Anonymous 'chatting' is easy - meeting is more difficult. I would also say that you may not have been 100% honest in your description of yourself, and now meeting someone will reveal the dishonesty.

Because you are just playing & flirting..
When you meet the right guy and the feelings are there,
you will want to make them real, up close, personal & intimate.

It's fun and good for the ego! It's also a way to learn how to interact with the other sex. I think you are incredibly smart not to act on it so enjoy yourself!

Think you need to go for it, I met my spouse, on Myspace, and it has been great, If you think about it, her personality is her page, so there is a definate way to see just what kind of person you are getting involved with, and if you talk to them, hey its fun... If your not intrested, then, I say keep the computer off.

that happens, it just means that you are not interested....i guarantee when you find the guy that does interest you, nothing will stop you from trying to be with him...don't be too hard on yourself ok? just keep looking for what you want
