As the saying goes "Everything IS bigger in Texas." Some posters have already listed some of the better choices for catfishing but Lake Livingston would be hard to beat. Expect to pay $200 for 8 hour fishing trip by an expert catfishing guide.

If that doesn't interest him then consider the Red River for catfishing.
Here's a link with info for Red River catfishing.

I hope he catches the next world record.

What a lucky man your husband is!

In my opinion The Santee Cooper River in South Carolina is hard to beat. There are multiple catches of 30 pound fish there daily. I have caught fish over 70 pounds there twice, different trips, and so many 20 plus pounders I have lost count. If it is a guide your looking for I have used the same one for 10 years and he has a 100 pound guarentee. He is the best guide I have ever used in fresh are saltwater. While I do not know any guides I would say the Mississippi River would be a close second. Captain Darryl Smith is a heck of a nice guy and holds a bunch of different records.

If your really wanting to make his day you should check the Internet for a guide in your area. But if your in Texas you should try Lake Sam Rayburn. But finding a good guide is you best chance to getting your time and money's worth. Try Yahoo search and type in catfishing guides, it should help you with everything. Good luck and have fun.

Russ had some ideas-blowing thoughts (more beneficial than i'd have afflicted to write down cuz i'm lazy :) yet i am going to provide you with some help in regard to the issue you've with hook placing. a million) even in spite of the undeniable fact that a #4 hook is a lot vast for catfish, you may opt for to guage looking a larger length as a fashion to have sufficient hook sticking out from the bait for a sparkling set. you may also attempt going to the pharmacy and paying for a series of girls' pantyhose, reducing the hose into squares, and wrapping the liver with the hose and tying it off to maintain all of it mutually in a neat equipment. 2) attempt making use of circle hooks. Circle hooks are specifically formed in a fashion so as that if a catfish options up your bait and swims away with it, ninety% of the time it is going to hook itself with minimum attempt on your area. yet another income of circle hooks is that ninety% of the time it is going to bury itself contained in the nook of the fish's mouth, reducing intestine-hooking and making liberating them less demanding. 3) if you're fishing in an area the position the present isn't sturdy, you may opt for to downsize your weight from a million oz..to perchance a million/2 oz.. The smaller bite of lead may actually help with sensitivity on your line.
