zip it or use WinRar to create an archive (similar to zip file only that the extension is .rar instead of .zip so you can differentiate).

If the file is not to large then you can send it as an attachment. Email service providers have a Maximum limit on total file size per email per account. For e.g. Gmail has cap of 10 MegaBytes.

You will also need to virus scan it. Infected files will not be transmitted over insecure public networks.
