He wrote to me saying he was having severe back pain and they did an MRI on him. I would think this constitutes for a medical discharge. He shouldn't have even been able to go in the first place if he has old back fractures that aren't healed right? He also said it showed water on his shoulder. If he doesn't get medically discharged is there any other way he can come home...I don't want him to hurt himself more than he already has there. They say only so many recruits who go to marine boot camp make it through so how do those who not make it get out? Any help is greatly appreciated...thanks!

What was he thinking joining the Marines in the first place? Why is he selling his life for George Bush and oil? Does he just want to go cause more trespassing havoc in Iraq? Is he going to search for that WMD? Does he think coming back as a half blown apart vegetable or worse will make him a hero? He needs to get out immediately, before he gets sent to Bush's shooting gallery. He should refuse to be bossed around anymore, starting NOW. Let Bush send his daughters to Iraq, that will be the day. Any dishonorable discharge is better than going on a killing spree in Iraq. He should be home, starting a business selling pro environment technology, windmills, solar cells, electric cars etc., if he wants to help. That he could be proud of and make a whole lot more money, besides stay alive and not be a killer.

Mu guess is that he is a candidate for discharge, simply because he would be a candidate for disability which the government already is over quota on. He may already be a candidate foer a medical discharge, however I believe the Marine Corps is smarter than that, they may release him for being unfit for duty. This should get the government off the hook for further liability.

The real test is in what happens in the dfays and weeks to come, but I stand behind the scenario I just described.

The same thing happened when my brother went to marine boot camp in Parris Island. About 5 days after he got there we were informed that he would be sent home because of high blood pressure. He was sent to RSP (Recruit Separation Platoon) , which is where the recruits waiting to be sent home stay. He was actually sent home two and a half weeks after we got that phone call. The time that they are there however, can vary. It really just depends on how long it takes them to process the paperwork. I heard it usually takes anywhere from 10 days to a month and a half. Sorry it didn't work out for him, my brother went through the same thing. I wish him the best of luck in whatever he decides to do!

if he knew about the old fractures and didn't tell anybody, he committed fraud and would be discharged that way. If he didn't know about them(highly unlikely,) then a determination will be made.. he may just be put on Med hgold and then finish out Boot Camp when he is healed.

He will probably be discharged...however, I do not believe he will be afforded disability as these fractures were pre-existing....he may have been able to enlist with a waiver...IF he told the drs at MEPs about his fractures they woud have asked him if they bothered him and he mostly likey answered 'no' and would have been given a medical waiver....

I'm not sure that they will discharge him, because technically, he isn't a marine yet. They will probably just terminate his contract.
