My husband and I have struggled for the past 3-4 months finacially due to illness and pregnancy. We have actually borrowed money from our family to make sure that rent is paid. We have just a few dollars in our account, and we have an 11 year old daughter that we haven't bought anything for, not to mention our parents. We are not crafty, nor Martha Stewart (cookies and such). Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

This year I'm going to the dollar store and buying a few small jars and filling them with homemade candy. It is pretty cost efficient. For the eleven year old try getting her earrings or something that is nice but can be found at discount stores.

Don't have to be crafty to make simple things. Handmade items are more appreciated. And don't have to be Martha Stewart. You can get simple recipes on the internet. My sister just made kalua mix from simple recipe found online. And there is many more to be found. Also time. Give them time with you. And do things for them. Fix something they need. Paint something. Do yard work. Rake the lawn. Your family would appreciate and should understand your situatipn. That is what families are all about. Just do these things and do with love. And for your little girl, try to borrow just little amount to give her something. Read story by O'Henry called The Gift. Explains what two people do when they are poor but love each other enought to give of themselves.

I bake issues and make warm chocolate blend to provide to buddies. I actually have 8 grandchildren, so I supply them present playing cards and they could %. out what they opt for. same is going for my little ones. They recognize what they opt for more beneficial than I do. i attempt to get my husband a sparkling device or gadget he's favorite. at the same time as i develop into operating, I had discretionary funds for presents, yet considering that retirement, it truly is merely no longer an determination. With the tax cuts being carried out away with in January, i imagine it will be even worse. i love the conception of giving a dollar for each twelve months of age. My grandchildren variety in age from 25 right down to 5.

Your families are going to understand the "no presents"..give them coupons for dinners that you have them over for.

Your 11 year old is another story, ,could be one set of parents or the other would be willing to let you give part of what they were going to give her. She is at an age where it will hurt when friends start saying what they received, but, she should also understand.

Stress the giving part, the giving of time..to the underprivileged', work a soup kitchen,,,carole at a nursing home

Well it is getting a close to Christmas to try this, but for your daughter you can try contacting her school without her knowing and see what they can do to help you out, they are usually pretty good with things like that, as for your parents they should understand the situation yous are in and besides you are giving them a gift " A new grandchild" and as long as you give them lots of love and respect, no one could ask for a better Christmas gift.

Buy some cheap christmas cards that come like 20 to a pack and I know you said you dont like to bake but buy some sugar cookies and decorate them wrap them in colored serane wrap and tie a ribbon around them, let the kids go around and hand them out on christmas, You will pay nearly nothing and you can make alot of presents, and your family probably knows you guys are going through hard times, but you are still thinking of them for the holidays.

Make up an IOU "coupon book." Each coupon will say things like "Good for one back rub", or "1 free babysitting session". They can redeem them when they want to throughout the year.

Make something with craft maybe some sticks and some leaves you could make a picture frame and a picture in it .it would be very creative and may be you could use stones.
