I'm in a relationship with a guy from my past. It's now a long distance relationship, we are continents apart. I really care for him, but I feel like he is lacking depth. He tells me he loves me and wants to spend the rest of his life with me. BUT I feel he does not tell me about how he feels when it comes to himself, his inner soul. I am a deep person and need to be with someone who is also deep, who can dig deep inside themselves. I can tell he is trying, but something is holding him back. I don't know if he lacks depth, he's afraid, diff. mentality, or distance. I feel like he has so much to offer the world but does not express it. I want him to be the best person he can potentially be whether I am with him or NOT, really. I don't want to come off like I am trying to change him. I love who he is, but he can be so much more. Is there anyway I could tell him he needs to work on his inner feelings & himself before we can be together? I will add detail in a couple hours if necessary.

you cannot change anyone but yourself..and face it, men aren't real deep most of the time..lol (nothing personal menfolk) and why should they have to be? it's not really in their nature to be so and there is nothing wrong with that ..they still have emotions and are generally nice people but you can't mold someone into something you want them to be ..if you think you can, you are in for a great deal of disappointment

You can't make a man.If he can't grow on his own, then why waste your life. The distance between you two also plays an important factor.Move on,and be happy before it's too late.

I would stay connected with him, just to see if he's maybe hiding something. But if he isn't, I wouldn't try to change him; that's like trying to teach a pig to tap-dance. Just love and accept him for who he is.
