The Bible advocates executing adulterers:
"If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death." Lev. 20:10
**
The Bible also forbids wearing mixed fabrics (cotton-polyester blends or cotton-wool blends):
"You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed; nor shall there come upon you a garment of cloth made of two kinds of stuff." Lev. 19:19
**
And Jesus told his followers to obey the Jewish law.
"For truly I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kkingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matt. 5:18-19

But ALL Christians pick what parts to follow. How do you choose?

RAY:
Then you have chosen NOT to follow the passage quoted from Matthew, in the Sermon on the Mount. How did you reach that decision?

Thanks, Ray, for acknowledging you choose what to follow by what FEELS right. At least you have answered the question. Others, except for those who are nonbelievers, are ignoring the question.

Many of you picked out my example of adultery, but failed to answer how YOU choose what to follow in the Bible. No one follows the whole thing. Drawing only from the New Testament, are Christians saved by faith alone or are they known by their works? Both views have scriptures to support them.
Had you lived during the age of slavery, would you have admonished a slave to return to his master, or would you have helped them to escape to a free state? Such a moral decision falls upon the Christian, and IF you choose the Bible as your sole source for your faith's content, you must choose what portion to give more weight. Both sides found support in the scripture.
Honestly, I think that every Christian, whether consciously or unconsciously, makes these decisions, which in fact means they are engaging in asserting their own values. I only hoped through this question to help make the thought process conscious.

*shaking head* How many times to we have to tell you. Jesus overruled that old timey crap. It is a clear cut case of Son overruling Father. Jesus trumps god. If you listen to Jesus you don't have to listen to God. I think you still can put homosexuals to death because I don't think Jesus overrulled God on that account, but I'm not certain.
Edit: I stand corrected. Thank you. I didn't want to stone any homosexuals as I have nothing against them.
NH Baritone I hope you know that I am only funnin'. You are FAR FAR more learned on the subject than I. I was just trying to paraphrase some of the answers I have read regarding the subject.

Well, most Christians have personal agendas they use the Bible to push and justify. That's how you choose your parts to follow.
Seriously, I'd be more considered with just accepting Jesus and God and trying to live a good life, like treating people right and doing what's moral, than I would be with the exact wording of the Bible, New or Old Testament.

When Jesus came to earth, it was the beginning of a time of grace. He became the propitiation of sin and the Lamb sacrifice of the Old Testatment. There was no more need to shed blood.
Romans Chapters 10-13, explain the covenants of Jewish law in the New Testament. There were still punishments in place under both Judaic and Roman law. Crucifixtion was for criminals found guilty by Rome. Looking a Acts 10, after the ressurection Jesus called out to Peter and told him not to do as the Pharisees did. ( Matthew 23 and Luke13) They had complied 600 additional laws to God's original 10. Jesus added one and that was to love one another.

Alot of what is in the bible deals with Jewish law and we are no longer under the law as Christians. We are under grace. Remember that Jesus told those who were going to stone the woman in adultry "whoever is without sin , cast the first stone".

First of all you must accept every part of Gods word because all of it is true. You cant pick and choose which part to accept and not accept because that would be like ignoring God one minute and then praising him the next. When the Pharisees brought the adulterous woman to Jesus and told him that the Law said that she must be stoned he began to write in the sand and said" If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her".Read John 8:1-11
Jesus upheld the legal penalty of adultery, stoning, he could not be accused of being against the law. But by saying that only a sinless person could throw the first stone, he highlighted the importance of compassion and forgiveness. It is God's role to judge, not ours. Our role is to show forgiveness and compassion because we are all sinners. Christians are just sinners that gave their will up to God. Jesus did not condemn the woman accused of adultery, but neither did he ignore or condone her sin. He told her to leave her life of sin after he forgave her.

U took old rulls ,parts of Old Testament and obvious u dot know anything abt christianity since u consider these rulls as part of christianity .Old Testament laws were bavailable only untill Jesus came with the truth .and settled a new universal law. LOVE and FORGIVENES.Christianity starts with New Testament , after Jesus came into the world. After Jesus came we dont follow the old laws of Old Testament . U should know that christianity begines after Jesus not before him . Study Bible before u embarass urself with ur ignorance.

Romans 3:23-26 (New Living Translation)
23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. 25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, 26 for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.

And Jesus quoted that who ever stands with no sin, cast the first stone in order to execute the female adulter. Not one stone was cast. The female was told she was forgiven, and to sin no more. Does this help to answer?

The Bible is a word of God but what we have today has been changed by the people. Now Holy Quran is the only word of God available in its purest form. Read it and then you will find the truth.

You pick only the ones that support your beliefs. Martin Luther King, the Rainbow Coalition, the KKK, the American Nazis, and Jehovah Witnesses have all picked and chosen stuff from the bible to support them.
