When the nanotech age is in full swing about 60 to 100 years from now we will have billions of nanobots inside us (or our great grandkids I guess) which will keep you from aging, and basically do anything you can imagine. Kind of like the liquid thing in Terminator 2. So the question is statistics: how many people die from accidents. Take the average life expentancy today, and divide the percentage of people who die from accidents and homicide. Let's say it's 15%. So the average life expectancy would be about 800 years. Does that math sound about right?

Developing the "cure" and sharing it are two different things.

Assume you are the CEO of a multi-billion dollar biotech company who finds the "cure". Is it in your best interest to share it? With intellectual property rights the way they are today, nobody can force you to share it.

Of course, you'd at least share it with your friends and family.

But really, you can probably come up with some pretty good reasons not to make the cure public. It sounds evil, and I think it is evil, but if you think it through, you might come to that conclusion.

Theoretically speaking, if you could find a way for cells to regenerate themselves properly and indefinitely, there may be no limit to how old a person could live.

Well, the body is already designed to replace every cell in the body every 11 months. If we can figure out how to quit killing ourselves then it's, theoretically, possible to live forever.
