if the label says best before your OK for a couple of days if it says use by you might get away with a day , Ive used it just out of date and been OK , give it the sniff test you should be able to tell by the smell.

If in doubt throw it out!
Mince is more suceptible to being previously contaminated as it goes through a second stage of handling which is the mincing process. All foods contain bacteria which with the right factors in place (food, warmth, moisture & time) they will begin to multiply.
Due to the mincing process, this has allowed a second environment where harmful bacteria may have attached to the meat, making it more high risk.
Throw it out!

If its been frozen, you can use it. If it was in the fridge, smell it.. Very often, 'used by' dates are just a guideline, and the food will keep for a couple of days after that. Food don't go bad at the stroke of midnight of the sell by date. 'Going bad' is a gradual process. The best way is to trust your nose and your instincts!

Hi, if it has been in the fridge it should be fine to cook, you will tell if its gone black or a pale white at the egdes and it will smell funny. If will be fine its only one day out and has been kept fresh. But i would use it today though

Cook it today. It should still be good for 2 days after the SELL BY date.

The sell by date is when the store has to remove it from the shelves. Most products still have a 5 to 10 day shelf life once bought. Your nose will tell.

It is perfectly safe to cook it but to eat it could be a different question! However sellby dates normally have a built in safety margin and is there to protect the vendor rather than the buyer. If I was hungry I'd eat it!

the sell date is only a date for which this product had to be off of the shelf. also this date does give you a time frame on how long this product should be kept.

you can go past the sell date. smell it and look at it, if it smells like tuna, then throw it out, if it looks like snot is in it, throw it out.

of it still has its deep red color, its good.

Unless it was in the freezer, DO THE SMART THING AND BE ABSOLUTELY SAFE, THROW IT OUT!!

It is much less costly (in more ways than you can imagine), to get rid of dated food, especially meat, than it will be if you ingest it and end up getting very ill from a nasty bacteria/pathogen. Definitely NOT worth the risk.

AND--do not rely on your nose--there can be harmful pathogens developing BEFORE you notice them.

Personally I wouldn't do it. But u can go a few days after the sell by date, if it's only one day, it is safe.
