Just keep demonstrating and they'll eventually copy you, or you could teach them how to do a handstand first so they get used to the feeling of being on their hands.

Most 3 year olds are not capable of doing an actual cartwheel. They do not have the motor skills. (I work at a gymnastics place for young kids and we don't start real cartwheels til the children are normally around age 5). We teach another basic skill called a "monkey jump". Have the kids put their hands down on the ground and kick their feet around. This starts them with the idea of a cartwheel without making them actually do it. Plus most kids can do this easy, so no one will feel bad. From their, progress by demonstrating and see if anyone can copy you. Just be patient and take your time. Good luck.

You could demonstrate one and then see what they are capable of on their own. As they start getting the hang of transfering some weight onto their hands and getting their feet around, start spotting them. Place your hands on their waist and assist them in straightening out their legs and bringing them over their heads. You will be supporting most of their weight. Good luck.
