Jesus suffered once and for all for sins payment. Yet, Paul suffered and died for His Lord, the apostles all (?) suffered or were crucified......and we are to count it all joy to suffer for the truth. I personally have no problem about what people think about me for my stand on the truth about Jesus, but what about health problems? People who are allowed to become parapeligics, quads, CP, MS, Lou Gherigs, Lymes, breast cancer and ther cancers, etc. How do those sufferings translate into the glorifying of the Saviour and his Kingdom? I know everyone will suffer to some extent, and I don't wish it on anyone, yet I (think) I know those who suffer undeservidly. Take the paralytic whose friends lowered him through the roof before Jesus to be healed...... or the centurian who found Jesus and whose faith was beyond that of anyone in Israel and who got healing for his son (remember,..."Go, your son will live!..." Jesus said.) Is God just waiting for our great faith for every healing?

Not really. Christians here in the United States still claim they are persecuted like the bible said they would be though. They are not
The leaders of the Christian Coalition are not being hung on crosses (Philippians 2:8). The leaders of the Family Research Council are not being stoned to death (Acts 7:59). The leaders of Focus on the Family are not being thrown to the lions (Daniel 6:16). And yet these people have the gall to claim they are being persecuted in God's name. They are not. All they have to worry about is someone calling them bad names and denying them their request for favoritism.

Yes. If you have faith then he can heal you. But it doesn't mean he will. Maybe for whatever reason that is the reason you came here to face cancer or whatever. I believe we all came for a reason we all have a purpose, something that we need to go through. Or someone that needs us to help them. But I also believe that once we are here we are given the agency to do with it however we choose. Some may choose to suffer. Should we have to suffer like Christ. No, nobody can do that. He died for all of our sins. He suffered more than we could ever imagine. People have suffered before yes. But not like him. Think about how many people are actually on this earth and how many have been and how many will be. He suffered for all of us. So I don't think we can really ever understand suffering. But we can always pray for guidance and help.

God can and does heal. But when it is within His will. I really get upset when I hear the T.V. 'evangelists' talk about they are empowered by God to heal - it's like they want people to believe they have God in their pocket and can make Him perform on their own whims. How dare they?
As for physical sufferings, if God were to heal anybody, you'd think it would have been the Apostle Paul - but Paul had some type of injury or illness that was never healed, even though Paul prayed for healing. God has His own reasons for when He chooses to heal or not - we do not see the whole picture.

Suffering is a gift from God.
Many who would have never known him have been saved as a result, and many who were always too busy to spend time with him were able to do so as a result of their personal tribulations.
Still others have been drawn closer to God when they tended to the needs of those who were suffering.
In the eternal time frame, the sufferings of this life, no matter how terrible they might seem, are like merely stubbing a toe.
Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this time are not worthy to be compared with the glory to come that shall be revealed in us.

Not every sick or handicapped person was healed in those days. Some were healed, yes, there is no doubt, it's in the Bible. You ask, "Is God just waiting for our great faith for every healing?" God is waiting for us to come to Him. Sick, poor, rich, healthy. God richly blesses us for our faithfulness. He doesn't cause illness or accidents that handicap our bodies because he's mad at us. You talk about the sick and handicapped, do you blame a person for being poor and out of work on God? Or do you blame the person? You're right, illnesses and handicaps are not fair, I know, my family deals with a horrific hereditary disease that there is no cure for. Two members of my family have passed away because of it and I know that two others will also. How do I deal with what your asking as a person who so far shows no sign of this disease. Feel guilty, relieved...no, I thank God every day that I wake up healthy with my mind in tact. And in that, I pray for my family every day. We never know who may get this disease next. Don't blame God for our illnesses, pray for those who are ill and handicapped.

I really don't have a take on pain and suffering. I am in constant sever pain everyday (at least for the last month). I suffer from Endometriosis and Interstitial Cystitis. I believe God is carrying me through this tough time in my life, and right here with me. I'm suffering like this for a reason.....I'll know that reason someday, I just am not sure what it is right now.

God is Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient. Now we also have healing through Medicine, if we understand that God is in everything, therefore in Medicine,as well. I understand that we can offer our pain and suffering up to God, and surrender to His will, God is able to transform it for good. There are healings and miraculous healing coming about today, as they did in Biblical times, Who am I with my finite mind, to be able to comprehend the Great Mind of the infinite God? I can,but trust Him .

We will suffer wether we are Christians or not as it is part and parcel of this life, but the Christian views suffering through the cross of Christ and sees that there is a mysterious dignity in this and that God brings good out of suffering.

I think pain and suffering produces faith.
When we aren't well, need a friend or someone to go to, we go to Jesus. Jesus is our healer. God sent His Word and healed us of all our diseases.
When we suffer, we seek Gods Word and the answer to our questions. God wants us healed in the Name of Jesus and His blood washes away all our sin.
