If they were properly organised brothels, yes.

Girls should have health checks, help to get off drugs etc.

BUT. Who would want a brothel near their home? Thats the problem.

No, I don't think so. It would make prostitution socially acceptable and more people would become prostitutes, or use them. The majority of working girls use drugs and a lot of them are HIV positive. Testing is of little use because the virus can take a few months to show in the blood, by which time hundreds of men could be infected and be passing the virus to their wives and girlfriends. Legalising it would also be bad for all women, as it would perpetuate the idea some men have that women are only sex objects.

The legalising brothels debate has cropped up because of these terrible murders in Ipswich - wisdom would have it that if these girls were working in a legalised brothel, they would not be out on the streets facing unknown dangers. It is true, legalising brothels may provide a safer environment for girls on the game, however, they would still be 'servicing' up to 100 'clients' a night (quote from a dutch working girl) which does little for anyones health either mental or physical. The idea that legalising brothels somehow propels drug addicted young women into 'pretty woman' territory is naive. Girls whose addiction has chosen their profession need help not legalised brothels.

always the big question, legalise or not I agree it makes sense to legalise it if regular health checks are carried out, and its in a recognised red light district like Germany or Holland, but in the end it still ends up going underground, with wierder and wierder stuff (so I have heard)
Do the girls become drug addicts because its easy for them to get hold of money quickly?
Theres no real answer i believe it does not seem to work either ways, although america it seem to work better in states where it is legal.
Education is the real key and yourself, we could all take that jump to the criminal side, earning thousands a day, but you know the risks, jail or the beating these girls go through and now these murders sorry to say it an occupational hazard of working on the criminal side.

acceptable prostitution should be legalised- in a brothel or deepest residing house is fantastic. we ought to continually stamp out the diseased, junky street nook prostitutes although. And the elementary thanks to do this, is to have heavy HEAVY consequences for kerb crawling. that's my conception that very much of the money those street prostitutes earn, is going on heroin. shall we' bypass after those "kerb crawlers" extremely. All they ought to do, is make it a criminal offense to force back and backtrack the same street, time and time back, with out an excellent reason. The police ought to end street prostitution the following day in the experience that they did this.they could also end a lot of those stressful boy racer sorts with the same regulation.

Like fcuk it should, They should kick the habit a get a regular job.
Dont anybody give me sh!t about its hard to quit & they are forced onto the game because they not. They choose to, to fund the dirty habit.

It all boils down to the poor choices that these women make, in life why theyve been killed.

They choose the streets with the trouble and now theyve paid with their lives.

Girls in Amsterdam, are still controlled by Pimps and Crimnals alike, they are stlill subject, to beatings rape and Killing so making it Legal would not solve the problem,

Educating young people on the risks of taking drugs would.
Getting these people's out of unemployment would.

Yes, it would help some of the girls, but there will always be some that take risks because of drugs etc, that would not be tolerated in a "clean* environment

No because it would make it legal for their pimps to take advantage of their situation. There are evil people who pray on women who are desperate for a roof over their heads and food to eat. If it were legal these wicked pimps would be able mistreat these girls legally.

technically prostitution is not illegal, just soliciting. so as long as you never actually go out and offer or attempt to offer money for sex/sex for money your not breaking the law

additionally in order to be guilty of soliciting you have to be classed as a 'common prostitute' which means you have to have done it before and been put on a register...... we have weird laws here

Yes, then Gorden Brown can tax that as well, and pay for Tony Blair's new hair implants.
