besides using an allergy medicine what is the best homeopathic way to treat excess mucas and congestion? I have tried a saline wash, does anyone have any home remedies that are good?

Breathing in eucalyptis (sp?) oil, or rubbing some on your chest can help clear the passages. Also, steam...lot's of steam. Stand in a really hot shower for a long time and breath in the steam- I know this sounds gross- but when you've been exposed to the steam for awhile in the shower, blow your nose. The mucus should be looser, and come out easier. You could also just fill a sink with hot water, and put a towel over your head and breath steam in that way. Hope you feel better soon!

Its not a home remedy--but also not an allergy medicine:

Try Mucinex (600 mg Guafenesin--a much higher dosage than found in Robitussin). You can get it with or without the cough relief, I prefer without because I want to cough the crap up. BUT IT WORKS!!! Not so sure about the sinus because mine don't usually plug, they just constantly drain which I don't usually notice too bad until an infection. But it is the only thing that I have found that works for me.

Good luck!

Drink one drop of PURE peppermint oil 1-2 times a day simply put it in a cup of tea or plain water. This has helped for not only allergies but also sinus headaches I prefer the oils at www.youngliving.com/MARYKING1

Salt water rinses can be beneficial. Use warm, not hot water. You'll need to experiment with the salt concentration before snorting and gargling. Start with a low concentration of salt and increase it so as not to burn your nasal passages. Stir the salt into the warm water. If there isn't enough, the osmosis won't really work.

Try this... Peel and slice a fresh ginger root and boil it in water. Let it cool a bit, strain out the ginger pieces and drink it as a tea.

Tastes better than tea IMO and really works!

Personally, I drink lots and lots of hot green tea with honey and lemon, take a nice hot bath with epson salts, eat some hot soup, take my multi-vitamin, and get plenty of rest.

Vicks Vaporub under the nose works well.

For singular clearings I like to hold my ears with my pointers and one nostril with a thumb and blow as hard as I can (usually in the shower).

Vick's Vaporub....I sometimes put some under my nose before bed when I'm stuffed up. It's not a magic cure, but it helps a little.
