I was having a problem with breakage and I started doing this old remedy and it is working. I call it my hair tonic. I mix some mayo, 1 egg, and a little vanilla extract. Blend well. I put this on my hair after I wash it but before I condition it. The mayo contains cholesterol and makes your hair soft and shiny. The egg contains protein which makes the hair stronger, so it breaks off less. The vanilla is to help it smell better. Put this on your hair and massage it in. Then put a plastic cap, bag, or food wrap on your hair and let it sit about 5 mins. Then wash it out with lukewarm water. Then follow with a conditioner. If you have oily hair you may want to leave out the mayo and add a little milk to the egg. Do this every one to two weeks

1. Get it trimmed regularly, at least every months or two. This will help to keep it from getting split ends and breaking.
2. Get plenty of protein.
3. Take vitamins.
3. Eat lots of fruit and veggies.
4. Drink plenty of water.
5. Try to avoid most styling products like gel or hairspray and, whenever it is possible, avoid hot curling irons or blow-dryers..
6. Keep the hair properly cared for....ask your hair-dresser how often he/she thinks you should shampoo and condition. Over-cleaning the hair can be just as bad for it as undercleaning it. Also, you do not want to overbrush or underbrush. Either can cause breakage.
7. If you can stand the cold, take cold showers. This is better for both the skin and the hair.

my hair always grows faster in the summer.. i heard it's because i'm in water all the time [showering 3x day, pools, beaches, etc], but then again it could also be my imagination because my hair is up a lot...

Don't think you can speed the process up....you can only make it stronger by eating healthy.
