It depends on the area where you live, and who you get to paint it.

You need to get several estimates if you are planning to use a professional painter. Estimates are usually free. Ask each painter who gives you an estimate to put it in writing - exactly what will be done and how much it will cost.

Another option would be ask around. Someone may "know someone" who does painting on the side, and these independent contractors often charge less than professionals who advertise in the phone book, etc. Make sure you get some references, and if you know a friend who has used this painter, ask to see the work.

I am having my exterior painted. It is a small half-duplex, and my bids ranged from $1600 to $985.00. Turns out I have a friend whose husband paints as an independent contractor, (I didn't know this until I mentioned I needed a paint job) and his bid came in lowest of all. He has been highly recommended by several people I know and trust.

So - do some homework. Don't settle for the first bid, nor for the lowest just because it's the lowest! Unless, of course, this is your best bet after all.

Good luck.

Depends on your area. At a minimun you can expect to pay between $150-$200 plus materials. This is a pretty small job and a minimum charge is most likely all that would be expected.

Get a few estimates and references and go with your gut feeling. Ask for phone numbers and call people who have had work done by this person. Remember, the lowest is not always the best. Good luck.

I live in SE michigan, and in those little mailers that are full of coupons, i frequently see coupons that say they will paint your room one color for $250, an extra 50 for the ceiling, and an extra 50 for 2 coats, with contrasting trim, being extra.
