Become a resident, fill out some forms, take gun safety classes, pass a criminal background check, and that's about it.

If you live in the corporate limits of a city you will need to go the the Police department for that city or if you live in the county (outside a corporate limit) you will be required to go the the local Sheriff's department. You will be able to find out which permit you are wanting to apply for and the application cost for that permit. Indiana has changed the cost of permits and now offer lifetime and 4 year permits. Once you have made it to whatever department and have paid the fees you will fill out an application and will have finger prints taken. The Chief of Police or Sheriff will review the application and do a "local" background check and will then forward you application to the State.(if he approves it) The state will review the application and will notify you of your approval if approved.

Check with the state police, or whoever issues the permits.
