it will be fine to leave it unplugged for lond periods of time just as long as there is no food to be kept in it and when you do come to use it once its in place at your new home leave it to stand 24 hours before turning it on to let the liquid gas settle inside of it and clean it out before use . here to your happy new home

refrigerators can be unplugged for any long duration. If you are using a non-gas based refrigerator, just unplug it and if you want to prevent bad smell inside the refri then open the doors. While moving your refri, make sure that it is moved in the vertical postion and not in horizondal or in any other postion. These all are applicalble for gas based only.

While turning it back on, fix the temperature for lowest possible and when it is fully cooled, keep the food items inside and fix the temperature to your wish.....

Hpe this answers ur query......................... All the best.

I'm not an expert but we always unplug the fridge at the cottage for the winter. It's important to leave the door open so that it doesn't get mildewy and mouldy. It should be totally clean or else the mice might move in.

What a sea of idiots~! Not one answered the Q. I too am looking to find out if four years in storage has the potential to cause the seals in the compressor unit to dry and become prone to leakage. That's basically what the Q. asked is all about......not to prevent mice invasion, food spoilage, or cleaning, or safety to kids. They don't know, so they post anything to sound knowledgeable.

One guy said he is an engr. I'm assuming "engineer" but who knows. If he can't spell out his profession, I certainly don't want his advice.

Thanks.
