I make sure that I walk or use public transport as much as possible.
I recycle all the things that the council asks me to recycle, and because they don't take glass or kitchen waste I compost the kitchen waste and take the glass to the recycling centre. I also use rechageable batteries.

In the house I try not to waste water - use shower not bath, minimise washing machine use and best of all I use Eco Balls - these wash clothes without detergent so that there isn't any pollution - or electricity by not leaving appliances on standby and by turning off lights when I leave a room.

I also donate old clothes to charity shops or use them for rags. I try not to waste anything. These are all small things but they don't cause me any inconvenience and I think every little helps. For me the environment is very important. I want to have an inhabitable world when I am old and for the future.

If you really care about the environment, you have to go vegetarian. Meat production causes extensive pollution and is a huge drain on our resources. It even causes more pollution than these SUVs people always complain about. It is also easy to become meat free and much kinder to animals. Meat is no longer needed as a food source as many other kinder options exist. In fact, most meat sold today is in the form of stuff like hamburgers and hot dogs and is bad for your health. The only real reason to eat meat is for entertainment and the animals pay the price for our entertainment as they are abused and slaughtered. It is hypocritical to say you care about the environment and love animals while eating meat.
