My father is still in. * (one star) that is another reason I went Army. Being the general's daughter sucks.

militia Air tension Brat and now Air tension companion. Of each and each of the bases I easily have been to i could say that larger Heyford England had to be my appropriate base and assginment as I went there a Brat and left a companion confident I meet and married my husband there. And Incirlik Turkey replaced into my favourite as a Brat. After being around the militia for over 35 years that's basically in my blood i like it not sure what i'm going to do whilst my Husband comes to a decision to retire which could be any time as he has already surpassed his 20 twelve months mark. With 5 little ones that's a frightening theory to leave the only life you have ever quite time-honored.

I was a Navy Brat and career Army:

I retired south of Fort Carson - love Colorado mountains and
rural areas: 'Springs is to large, hated Fort Carson as it never seemed to have a real heart. Ugly post great views.

Loved Panama Canal Zone as a dependant
Loved Sasebo japan as above (1950's Japan was something)

San Antonio: Fort Sam: loved it but the city just grew and grew!

Fort Gordon & Fort Jackson: no way even with booze or drugs
Fort Lewis as an negative to Fort Irwin: bake or drown!

But the winner is: US Naval Station, Key West Florida Truman Annex! 1959-63-

1. lived on the beach! No bs! Housing for "Flag Officers", Captains, and Senior & Master Chief CPO's!
2. John Glenn stayed next to us after his spaceflight!
3. SCUBA, fishing, snorkeling, sailing, girls!
4. I and another boy (the son of the Chief Navy Diver) had the paper route for all the submarines, tenders, PT boats, and Marine Barracks: we made big money as we also hauled donuts and ended our days cleaning M-1's and spit shinng USMC boots!
What a lucky childhood! Even made it through that Cuban Missle Crisis...that was a real bad week, watched my dad's destroyer steam out off the jetty by our house, talk about a "Hollywood" moment in a high school boys life..think it was a Sumner class DD, my dad lost one in WWII and felt the ship was jinxed.

I wanted to follow my father but I had poor eyesight and had no chance too, even after my ROTC so I went ARMY! During Vietnam the Army only asked: that you were breathing!

Sorry, but I do love my Army. Volunteer a lot at Fort Carson, we help out, etc. Heck, I also do a few things for the Air Force Academy! (except when they play Army)

Being assigned to a USAF/RAF Station outside London at 20 years old was a good way to begin a career. And a retirement assignment to MacDill, AFB, Tampa, FL is the perfect place to end one. I'm not sure the statute of limitations is up so I won't tell all, but London has everything a 20 year old could dream about and I think if you look up retirement locations in the dictionary, it says see Tampa. Have Fun!

Fort Bragg, NC without a doubt. Its a city all by itself, and Fayette"nam" is right next door. Its easy to travel the east coast from there on 4-day weekends, with plenty of large cities near by to go and party at. Mrytle Beach, SC is pretty close by also. And the best reason... you're surrounded by fellow paratroopers, and the NAP's are few.

Airborne! All the Way!

Grew up outside NAS Moffett Field... loved that area in the 1960's thru 80's before it got too costly.

Favorite location was NAS Pensacola, Florida... followed by Dam Neck, Virginia and Coronado, California (NAS North Island). NAS Whidbey Island, Washington was beautiful as well was NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii.

Least favorite: NAS Memphis, Tennessee and NAS Atsugi, Japan.

Definately agree with the Guam comments. That has got to be one of the best kept secrets. I have only been there during TDY's though.

Best Station:
Araxos, Greece.

Worst:
Malmstrom, Montana (Being from Cali, the negative 20 degree weather didn't sit well with me.)
